Multiple violations of the laws of physics

Let me count the ways:

1 - You cannot shrink anything like that.

2 - Even if you could shrink something, the lost mass would be converted into energy (E=mc(squared)). In other words, you would produce a huge explosion.

3 - The minion given the anti-gravity treatment would not be anywhere near the moon. He would be on his way out of the solar system.

4 - Anti-gravity seems pretty unlikely anyway and may well be impossible.

5 - When the moon was restored to its normal position it was not given any orbital velocity. The result should have been the moon falling down onto the Earth and basically killing everything.

How dare they not follow the laws of physics...who do they think they are?! Animators...sheesh.

reply

Maybe you can get hired on as a technical consultant for the sequel and make sure they get it right.

Wow, just wow...

I will blow that ugly right off your face!

It's just a fun family movie. Get over it.

Just a fun family movie?
JUST A FUN FAMILY MOVIE??
Why, the OP barely scratched the surface!
I mean, how could Gru possibly balance his manly upper torso on those tiny little legs?
Do we really want our young children growing up with that sort of impossible to achieve body image?
And have you noticed that there's no resemblance whatsoever between Vector and his so-called "father"? Clearly Mrs. so-called father was screwing around!
What kind of lesson is THAT for the little ones?
Speaking of little ones... everyone knows that minions are orange and square shaped. It's DENIZENS that are yellow and capsule shaped.
That's as bad as referring to all Asian people as "Chinese"!
I could go on, but this is making me sick... sick, I say!

Why . . . why . . . how DARE yooooooou?

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Minions were created "from a single strand of DNA". They should be identical! It's not possible that some would have one eye and some have two.

Given the amount of energy expelled by the "Knocked Over!" weapon, it would be too heavy to carry.

When the "Knocked Over!" weapon is discharged, there is no recoil.

reply

Yeah, because things that are cloned from a single strand of DNA will be completely identical... FML

Do you think they're cognizant of how bad they got it?
Lets hope not, poor b@stards

reply

have you ever heard of the term mutation? that is how you would have variations on the minions

reply

Go watch a Marvel movie. Make sure to take your medicine upfront though, 'cause you're in for a rough ride...

Eris87, it is people like you is why we have mental institutions.

Not so....Vector's rocket suddenly accelerated while the moon was still enlarging just before it broke out of the confines of Vector's ship. While the moon's mass did increase it appeared to be maintaining the same speed/acceleration as it had while it was at a smaller mass (it did not slow down while increasing in mass). So therefore depending on Vector's ship trajectory, it could have been put back into orbit.

But yeah...like everybody else pretty much said "it's a cartoon", some violations of physics is to be expected. Futurama is a cartoon, they have violations of physic and they probably got the most writers with PHD's.

Seriously - you saw this movie and this is all you can think of?

reply

Some people have no imagination

May I take this opportunity to quote the great Bugs Bunny
"Yeah, I know this breaks the laws of physics. Fortunately, I never studied law."
It is merely a movie, and a kid's movie at that. Stop picking holes in it!
