pretty well done, kept me very interested the whole way, mostly satisfying ending

It was ok, I was hooked but too many confusing unresolved elements.
Why his kid and not the other one?
Why does London stop the detective?
What did he do in Iraq?
Why does he go to jail?
1. Ethan's kidnapper said: "I only take pictures. They pick the kid. "
2. Because the kids were probably sold to some big wigs who had connections.
3. He worked on an oil rig or something.
4. Because he killed at least one person while trying to save his son.
I would add (to point number 4) that he had also torched a man's foot, which can hardly be seen as self defence
