You are clueless. The cast as a whole is excellent and Woody deserved a Oscar nomination for his work in this film.

My wife and I saw the trailer and were convinced we HAD to see the film, got it from Netflix, and then were incredibly disappointed and had it out of the DVD player and back in a sealed Netflix envelope before the disc had time to cool off. Everyone on here talking about the great cast... yeah, Woody was great, he almost always is. He's incredibly talented and very believable in this role... BUT, for the love of all things holy, Dennings was HORRIBLE in this film... and it's not even because she acted it bad, but she was a ridiculous person to cast in this role. Every time she said anything dirty it was like listening to your little sister... she was absolutely not-believable in this role. I would rather have seen someone with a little more edge (and more attractive wouldn't have hurt). The movie also was not funny... I don't understand all of the reviews talking about how funny it was. The only thing I remember about this film is how pissed I was when the credits rolled. Avoid this film, if you're still on the fence about it. I would have rated it closer to a 4 also.

I just watched it and liked it. If you are not looking for a story with good plot and strong performances you gotta go look somewhere else!
shareI can’t believe this ridiculous thread. This is a good movie and definitely does not deserve a failing grade. Far from it. It deserves an 8 or higher. It is imaginative, original and heartfelt. It has exceptional cinematography, an outstanding musical score, terrific performances and a very original concept. It is a passionate project made by talented and committed artists working under incredible duress on an independent film. The fact that comparisons are being drawn to big budget Hollywood blockbusters is a mark of success for this film made on a shoestring budget and shot in 20 days!!! People making rash, negative and knee-jerk comments owe it to themselves to get educated about the challenges of making a film in the first place. A good place to start would be on this DVD’s Special Features, which provides an excellent set of featurettes as well as a director’s commentary. Do a little homework before your rants betray your ignorance.

sharei agree with the OP in the basic sense it's average rating is definitely to high as a 7.0/10 for a average rating is to high when a low 6's (say about a 6.3 MAX) would have been plenty.
i gave it a 6/10 (maybe a 5.5) as it was not bad but definitely on Thumbs Down side of things overall. it's just not all that interesting/entertaining at the end of the day. Kick-Ass (8/10, it's my 2nd favorite film of 2010 to) is easily the best of the genre.
