Is this movie irrelevant to the overall MCU?

Maya and Killian are introduced and die in the same film so its like they might as well have never shown up. the attack on the president’s not brought up in Civil War as an example of the dangers of superhumans, and Tony didn’t learn a damn thing. in beginning of Age of Ultron hes the exact same person as in Avengers 1.

I can't think of a single thing. Also after Iron Man 3 he is fully committing to Pepper, but in Civil War he says they are broken up because he can't stop being Iron Man.

They used the Extremis plot in Agents of SHIELD but I'm not sure that show is even in continuity anymore.

It's kind of surprising the assassination attempt isn't referenced once in the movies. There's some great moments in IM3 and it's a fun sequel. But the Mandarin twist really diminishes the rewatch value.
