Ok...I watched the subbed sometime ago, because I didn't know there was a dubbed, but found one, downloaded it, and just posted this on the other thread claiming all the male and female voices were done by a single male and female. Just reposting here for consideration;
Not trying to start a fight--I had enough of the "All Americans are lazy/illiterate/arrogant" crap on the other dubbed vs. subbed thread on here, but there must be multiple dubbed versions available, as I just finished downloading a dubbed copy, and it is definitely NOT the same actors/actresses doing the male/female voices. But, having watched only five minutes or so of the dubbed and having watched the subbed version, I'll re-iterate something I stated in the other thread; dubbed or subbed, you are at the mercy of the translator. Many if not all languages will have words/phrases that do not directly translate to other languages...the example I used was "schadenfreude", which so many on that thread seemed to suffer from. While the dialogue carries the same jist, it is definitely different. And, as I said in the other thread, sure, in a dialogue intensive film that requires apt attention, subs may be the way to go, but in a corny, action heavy film, I'll settle for dubbed. With films like this, I don't really want to devote my entire attention to the screen...I multi-task--as I am doing now--or I interact with friends who might be over watching it with me. And, actually, with this film, the lip-sync is fairly close...don't know if they CGIed it or what, but really not distracting at all...not like when I was a kid in the 70s watching the Japanese giant rubber monster movies. And, overall, I'd say the intonatation is not flat, but sticks to the mood of the actor in the scene. Just my humble opinion.
