Is just me, or did Julia Roberts look artificially aged?
And it's not that her character looked anachronistically old for the role she was playing, but somehow she appeared much older than she looks in recent publicity photos.
Maybe that's how Roberts actually looks without makeup, but I kind of suspect Julia's had the best of the best care and treatment for her face since forever. My wife and several of our friends are Julia's actual age and they don't look as aged as Julia did in this film and none of them have had anything more than over-the-counter skin care regimes, not regular visits with top dermotologists.
I think Ethan Hawke was made to look older, too, but since his character was less angry and more laid back than Julia's, it kind of worked to mitigate his aged appearance.
