Last Four World Cups Have Been Won By European Countries

The last World Cup won by a non-European country was Brazil (2002). Since then it's been...
2006: Italy
2010: Spain
2014: Germany
2018: France

Will we see another champion from Europe? Or will Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, or Uruguay (the most likely four) break the European streak?

reply

I think this time will be Brazil.

reply

Brazil usually has a decent chance every WC. If they can play their best and get a few lucky breaks they could go all the way.

France has a talented squad but only two countries have ever won back-to-back World Cups (Italy 1934 & 1938) and Brazil (1958 & 1962).

reply

We’ve never had a final featuring both the South American giants. I predict a final of Argentina Vs Brazil this winter with Brazil to win.

reply

Now THAT would be an epic match!

reply

Last chance for Messi to win WC.

reply

Right. If Higuain hadn't missed that perfect chance in the first half of 2014 Final against Germany, Messi might have already won one.

reply

It's probally Ronaldo's last World Cup too, just imagine an Argentina vs Portugal final!

reply

Would be very cool to see Messi & Ronaldo face off one last time, but Portugal probably won't make it past the Quarter-Finals.

reply

I just hope neither suffer a bad injury before November.

reply

Qualification based on continents are archaic and should be removed. It should be more open to all qualification. Currently most nations outside S. America, Europe can't make it.

reply

That would certainly be the most fair approach but viewership/enthusiasm would definitely dip if North America, Asia, & Africa were taken out of the mix. Also, FIFA is one of the most corrupt sports governing groups ever and they only care about money & viewership.
