What movie were you watching? Hit shaw with sharp objects? Why on earth do you think this would work when bullets, rocket launchers, and grenades only made him stronger. The fact that he didn't try annoyed me a bit the first time I saw it too, but I then thought well, the guards had steel helmets, the filing cabinet and large objects in the surgery were obvious things, and as you say he may well not have had the focus to throw things with any direction or to perhaps stab Kevin's glasses into his head. He's just a kid, that may not even have occurred to him.
It's nice to see some people give rational, polite answers. Others not so much.
