This trash got a 7.1!? Fuck movies in general nowadays.

No complex central narrative, or theme. Just some base comedy and voyeuristic action.

Is this what movies have come to? Is this the future of cinema?

Every time someone tries to add some complexity in a blockbuster, such as what happened in the Ridley Scott trilogy, the zombie mob of low IQ dimwits who prefer movies like Venom descend on it.

When will humanity go extinct already!? Humanity peaked in the late 19th century.

Alien, Prometheus, and Alien:Covenant.

Ofcourse the squealing of low IQ harpy/banshee hybrids got the sequel to Covenant cancelled (also partly because Disney bought Fox).

Prometheus was to be its own trilogy of sorts, somewhat separate from Alien. It's not the audience that told Ridley to make another Alien movie. It was the studios. Then when Ridley followed through and turned Prometheus 2 into an Alien movie, the fans did the right thing by not seeing it.

It sucks that Ridley got caught in the middle of it when he had the better idea, but them's the breaks when you cave in to the studio. The same thing happened to Sam Raimi with SM3, and it also happened here with Venom but thankfully to a lesser degree.

Alien:Covenant still continues the theme of Prometheus is you pay careful attention to David in both movies.

If your complaint is about the name change, that's shallow. Who cares about the name?

Complex? COMPLEX?

Prometheus and Alien: Covenant are huge piles of turds - if no more gets made, THAT is the reason. They are to the Alien universe, what The Last Jedi is to the Star Wars universe. Complete and utter nonsensical shit, with bullshit characters, wholly idiotic story and no regard for the giants which upon they stand.

They only brought two great female leads, specially Shaw, but Daniels rocked too - and David, who's an interesting character in himself.

But the plot itself and the sidecharacters, fucking sucked - everything that could have been intriguing was promptly ignored and cast aside.

I'm still angry about those movies. The plot and execution was so bad, it lowered the bar by so much, that James Cameron almost had to go down and singlehandedly raise it yet again.

It's not that movies have come to this. It's that movies have been this way for a long time now. This fits right in with SM1 and ASM1. Although Raimi's Spider-Man 2 was a drastic improvement, IMDB's rating hits the nail on the head by putting this better than SM3 and ASM2.

SJW propaganda is destroying movies. Nowadays you can't watch a movie without being spoonfed something that is currently politically correct or socially trending. Dark, gritty themes and the language and violence that encompass it are being seen as a form of toxic masculinity and as a result, being kept to pg-13 levels; thus, taking away from the subject matter and the essence of dark anti hero films such as Venom. Your lucky to find a single movie nowadays that even throws around an F-bomb, let alone a series of them. Hot women and nudity? forget it, it's all about fat acceptance and fit shaming nowadays to appease the Pillsbury doughboys/girls out there. Strong, assertive male leads? no more! We can't have the social media sjw's complaining about male patriarchy and dominance, so lets shoehorn a female cast member and get her butting heads with the male lead all throughout the film to the point of exhaustion and contrivance. This is only the beginning folks, its only a matter of time before more and more characters and franchises relating to mature subject matter get toned down to appease the sjw casual movie going public.

When your bringing characters like Venom into leading roles and portraying them as anti-heroes you should be staying true to its origin, aka the comics, to maximize appeal, especially when the casual movie-going public isn't going to be familiar with the character.

"Maximise appeal"? This movie "bombed"? WTF are you rambling on about? "Venom" is making a ton of money.

I don't mean to give off the vibe of a disgruntled hipster but to put it simply, start getting into older movies. There's a huge back catalogue of classics, every now and again I discover something new or old to be precise, that piques my interest. If you keep watching all this superhero stuff you'll never be happy.

Art in general is subjective! Did it ever cross your mind that these people might have agreed that Venom is trash in a lot of areas but yet have had fun with the movie? The Amazing Spiderman 2 was just like that to me. I consider the movie's script to be awful, but I had fun with it. Thus me giving it a positive score overall.

Just stop acting like a 12 year old that is as closed minded as a turtle.
