Blackwashing white shows and movies is the easiest, laziest form of diversity.It's just stealing someone else's hard work slapping a new color on it and then patting yourself on the back like you created something.

You overlooked The Wiz, a Broadway show and movie that “reimagined” The Wizard of Oz and replaced the movie score with funky bombast and cast a middle-aged Diana Ross (at her insistence) as Dorothy, sinking the final nail in the coffin of her tenuous movie career.
Then there is The Urban Nutcracker, a ballet that plagiarizes Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece and swaps the dancing mice with dancing rats. It was created 20 years ago, when “urban” was the antiseptic word for “ghetto.” It’s not a very precise term. Both Manhattan and Back Bay Boston are urban, but they sure as hell aren’t ghettos. The work celebrates “inclusiveness” and “diversity.” Of course it does.
