Cynthia Erivo slams ‘offensive’ fan-edited ‘Wicked’ poster

What a crybaby

reply

It's barely different than the original poster.

reply

IF I STARRED IN A MOVIE...I WOULDN'T WANT SOME SHIFTY INTERNET WEINER OBSCURING MY FACE ON THE POSTER EITHER.

reply

To be fair, the fan edited poster makes reference to the original Broadway poster.

reply

YEAH...I DON;T SEE IT AS A MAJOR SLIGHT OR ANYTHING...I CAN JUST SEE THE PERSPECTIVE OF AN ATTENTION WHORE....AS THAT IS WHAT I AM.

reply

Fan did is a favor by covering her face.

reply

The fan edited poster makes complete sense as it is a reference to the original Broadway poster. It's completely harmless, how the fuck does it even affect anything? She obviously tries to insinuate racism without actually saying it.

reply

She is a race baiter pos

reply

I think the more her face is cloaked, the more promise of mystery is evoked. Also, the prospective ticket buyers who fail to watch the trailer will not know she was miscast. ;D

reply

Like him or not, Critical Drinker's description of the original poster is spot on. Why the hell would anyone take offence to someone simply paying homage to it?

How f*ing desperate to invent disrespect do you have to be, to suggest this is an attempt to 'erase' you?

reply

I was indulging in a bit of sarcasm. My post from a while back below.

I only learned this from your post. Funny, when my parents took me to see it on Broadway with Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, it played out spectacularly in one evening.
Plus, Cynthia Erivo is 37 years old and doesn't look a day over 50.

Critical Drinker is indeed right on all points.

reply

That's why she was hired to do this. Get someone who's got a shaved head like a Black Panther radical activist who can manufacture "outrage" out of the most innocuous thing imaginable.

reply

"She obviously tries to insinuate racism without actually saying it."

She does, I was actually expecting her to bring up slavery. So tired of the race grievance nonsense.

reply

Because, being paid millions to play a part that has been played by white people for most of the show's entire theatrical run is "slavery." 😂

reply

the poster was made by some dork who really likes whatever this is & was having a bit of fun.

she sounds like a psycho.

Yeah, that's what I was just thinking - Probably just some kid who loves the musical, was being totally colour blind to the whole thing, and made the poster match the other one just as labour of love.

And then they get ripped and accused of racism by someone they probably idolised already! Really sad...

reply

That is one of the least offensive things I've ever seen.

That's just an attention seeking post by the actress. There's literally nothing to be outraged by.

reply

Yeah. They really are trying to ham up the racial aspect for the film adaptation.

reply

Most offensive thing she’s seen? She must live a sheltered life.

Hiding her eyes is offensive?

The “fan” just paid homage to the original poster.

WTF is her problem?

reply

Probably not reading into what the angle was of this particular fan edit. When you compare the three posters (the broadway one, the initial poster for the film and the fan edit) then it becomes immediately clear that there was no ill intention by the creator of the fan edit.

reply

Exactly!

She’s the only one imagining it.

Besides, that fan covering her face is doing us all a favor.

reply

She looks like Forest Whitaker took the Substance and the copy came out looking like Kobe Bryant with boobs. Less of her face is a good thing.

reply

The fan did her a favor. The less of Shrek's face we see the better..

reply

Princess Fiona, isn't it?
