I guess it was kind of a call-back to Twister (1996) when somehow none of them knew there was a chance that tornado was about to come at the movie theatre until the last second, and then this movie in a day and age where almost everyone has a smart phone they are caught off guard.
shareWe know the main leads were on a date and relaxing and trying to 'switch off' from their professions / obsessions for a while, but the people running the show should have known better. They would have at least known of possible thunderstorms being forecasted for their area that night.
