Worst movie of 2010.. if not the decade.
I just felt like it needed to be said considering how EXTREMELY OVERRATED this movie is.
And I know that a lot of you agrees with me.

I disliked it a lot too. Very unoriginal. Felt like bad kill bill copy. Besides that just weird in a bad way..
Just to sum up: ppl if you havent watched it yet: dont!

what a bunch of haters...geez...can't you just enjoy a movie and not care if it is overrated or not. I had barely any expectations going in and I thought it was awesome. Greatest movie ever? Of course not...but any person who couldn't enjoy this movie was trying not to like it.
truth hurts...sorry but it's true

This movie kicks ass.
shareAs far as I can tell, Kick-Ass is definitely a "love it or hate it" movie. I love it. I think its one of the best super hero movies out there. It isn't just a super hero movie, it defies super hero movies.
[Potential spoilers ahead]
It shows that super heroes belong in comic books, that stories like need to stay in a fictional universe because if they were real, they would cause more harm than good. Kick-Ass becomes a super hero and breaks up ONE fight between a bunch of guys that all look equally shady. Hit Girl and Big Daddy are psychotic killers, and they drive criminals to MORE crime (Frank killing the random Kick-Ass impersonator).
The film starts off as a comedy to ease the dark, disturbing nature of the second half of the film. Someone on here (I forget who, I'm sorry) correctly pointed out that the film gets very dark at the Big Daddy warehouse scene, as it was supposed to. That's apparent when Kick-Ass and Red Mist pull up to the burning building and they show their shock and terror.
The best scene is where Hit Girl prepares for the assault on Frank D'Amico's place and Dave is in the bathroom washing the blood off his face. The symbolism present in the agonizing physical pain he's feeling, combined with the rage Mindy is showing in the background shows that everything he has done is for the worst. He smiles, and his smile instantly goes away as he realizes, from the pain, blood, sweat, and despair in the weapon-filled apartment of a child whose life he probably ruined, that his obsession with being a super hero was one of the biggest mistakes of his life.
We get more comedy in the end (Jet pack, rocket launcher) to ease our way back out of the film. The only potential problem with a comedy-drama-comedy sandwich is that people overlook the drama. Kick-Ass has it, its just layered. And the nature of the film itself could be seen as a parody of super hero movies, a commentary on super hero movies, or just a super hero movie itself. And whether it may be your cup of tea or not, its well written and expertly crafted (Some damn good fight choreography, Nicolas Cage ACTUALLY acting, striking visuals). If a 12-year-old girl spewing the word, *beep* and violently murdering criminals is too much for you, so be it, just be aware of what the film was doing by showing you that (Super heroes lead to things like little girls becoming psychopaths).
Kick-Ass: 8.5

what? are You Crazy? I laughed my ass off. this movie was amazingly funny. seeing how they made fun of these high budget superhero movies?
yeah U must like fairytales.. if someone decided to try to pull off being a super hero in real life. then it would probably be just like this movie. yeah no fake flying aliens .. no invisible men.. i thought it was pretty well acted. and perfectly written and directed.
not far off

Very overrated, but neither the worst film of the year nor the decade.
