deathstroke showing up in the dream sequence? scene

with batman, right after he was shown saying he will kill batman, was confusing.

Agreed. They really crammed all they could into the last 15 minutes of this movie for some reason, and it absolutely had no linear flow at all. Fun scenes to watch, but did nothing for the story and felt very much like an afterthought. I guess Snyder thought this was his one chance to get every idea he had on paper into movie form, so flow be damned, he was going to do it.

Really weird movie. 4 hours long and still felt like the crammed things in.

It's also weird because some of the things I liked about it are blatantly problematic. The Old Gods scene was great, but makes Darkseid look like a weenie. And the Deathstroke stuff you point out. Like....what?

That dream sequence served no damn purpose.

The whole epilogue was unnecessary, didn't need to be there at all and added nothing other then pushing the runtime over 4 hours!

I loved this film and I think the last three scenes (Luthor, the Knightmare scene, and Martian Manhunter) are cool and a lot of fun to watch, but I view these more as extended post-credits scenes that just happen to play before the credits. To me, the film's natural end is when Superman walks into the alleyway and rips open his suit as he's about to fly into action. Everything after that is just a bonus.

I wound back to try and understand what was going off and realised Martian Manhunter took the form of Clarks mum to talk to Lois at about 2 hours in can't help feeling there is so much crammed in I'll have to watch again. Given I didn't care for and wouldn't watchthe theatrical release again I guess that's a good sign I suppose. Maybe could have made a 6 part mini series.

I hated that dream sequence. I loved the entire movie but that part felt really tacked on and unnecessary. I hope we never see an actual movie depict that ugly and unpleasant post apocalyptic wasteland with an evil Superman. I never cared for that idea.

reply

well, have you seen superman and louise?

reply

Not yet but I plan to. Is it good?

reply

it is surpisingly good for a CW show.

the reason i was asking was that it hints at an evil superman that destroys the world (sorry for the spoiler).

reply

Ohh okay. I'll have to check it sometime when I get a chance.
