Although GOOD Korean Directors making US movies ... they kinda lose something in translation.
I didn't like SnowPiercer (Same director)
And he tends to insert a bit too much of social commentary and socialist substrate for my taste - but still the host, memories of murder and parasite are amazing. Haven't seen, yet, Mother ... don't shoot.
To each their own.
Snowpiercer was my first film of his & I absolutely loved it. So much so that I sought out his other works.
With the Commentary thing, I don't mind it as long as the film is well written & the message is well told.
I'm not a social activist. If the film is entertaining, it's entertaining. I don't plan on analysing films. And I personally haven't been affected by a film's message, yet.
Same with Hayao Miyazaki. Those are their views. As long as I don't feel like I'm being bashed over the head with someone else's views, I'm good.
