Anyone else like both the original and the remake?

Anyone else just like both films? I mean, I always see alot of people argue about remakes but when there is an actual good remake of the film for instance with the TGWTDT remake, most fans of the original will dislike whoever liked the remake. I really liked REC & Quarantine, I really loved both Dawn of the Dead and both Carrie films (Spacek & Moretz) and while I haven't seen the original LTROI yet, I really enjoyed this remake. I will soon watch the original but I want to know if anyone else like both this version & the remake? Most don't seem to think you CAN but I want to know if anyone did?

I like both versions, although I absolutely prefer one over the other.

The same with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, liked both, prefer one over the other.

It is perfectly possible to like both the original and its remake, but I doubt anyone could realistically like them both to the same degree.

Let us know what you think of the original, although I would suggest any positive review would better be posted on the appropriate board as certain regulars here see a positive view of the original as an attack on Let Me In. It's sad really, but it is what it is.

Let us know what you think of the original, although I would suggest any positive review would better be posted on the appropriate board as certain regulars here see a positive view of the original as an attack on Let Me In. It's sad really, but it is what it is.

I like both as well, I prefer Let Me In much much more though...but seeing how the LTROI fans act makes the original lose favor in my eyes.

Though it doesn't effect my enjoyment of LMI, the same could be said of its fans.

But... the LMI fans do their debating here on the LMI board, in defense of their film, especially from attacks by the four or five usual LTROI infiltrators.

Check the LTROI board - I see that you haven't contributed much if any there to support the point I'm making. But you'll not see LMI fans (myself or the main ones here) invading that board to insult that fine film.

How are those threads negative? I don't see anyone calling LTROI fans cretins, nor do I see anyone calling anyone involved with LTROI a hack. Those threads look friendly in nature to me.

So you aren't bothered when LTROI fans do posts here about how the Swedish film is better? Because I've seen people here get upset just by referencing it. There really shouldn't be much grievances at all then.

To consider equally people going on the originals website to complain vs going on this one is to forget the biggest factor, that LMI was the remake.

Actually, he wasn't trolling, he was trying to prove a point.

His claim was that the (much maligned) "LTROI Fanboiz" couldn't stand to have anyone speak positively about 'Let Me In' over on the 'Let The Right One In' board. He was convinced that positive 'Let Me In' talk over there, would get much the same response as positive 'Let The Right One In' talk gets here. In other words, he thought people would be insulting, belittling, and judgemental. Even though his OP was mildly, but deliberately, antagonistic he failed to get the hate filled response he wanted.

One would hope that he learned something from that experiment, but this is Harpo we're talking about.

The experiment was flawed because I informed you in advance...so of course the LTROI trolls here failed to respond as they normally would. My mistake.

I didn't check back...don't know if any LTROI fans who don't troll this board responded differently.

I actually fell for your rebranding that post as an "experiment" and then using that rebranding to attack me. I should have noticed that before now.

But in fact that wasn't an "experiment"...It was me showing what the trolls on this page look like.

Ahh..the old "you should seek help" internet tactic. One of the classics.

Fact....there are several LTROI fans who have been haunting this board for years....some almost a year before LMI was even released. That's "deranged". Naturally you have no issue with that. What a shocker.

I kept being lured back into that thread by email notifications. I posted that thread and forgot about it. It was almost a year later, after all...it's not like I was conducting this grand "experiment". The only reason I answered was because you were attacking me....the very thing you claimed would not happen. Ironic, eh? *edit* I did just go check...and there was an entire conversation attacking me. So much for your claim that I would not be attacked.

Back on the "do not respond" list you go.

So often people feel like they need to announce "I'm ignoring you". I think you imagine this may hurt my feelings. ...Or perhaps you need to inform the public that you have decided to ignore me as testament to your valor?

If you truly want to ignore someone, just do it. Don't hold a press conference.

And do you plan to actually do it this time? You've made than announcement several times now.

Now you are trying to change the subject. The cass was saying that LMI fans don't camp out on that board to constantly attack that movie.

My post was not the type cass was talking about. It actually only existed due to the LTROI trolls on this board and I never even visit that board otherwise.

Like both. Saw the original first. Dark and wonderful. Saw the remake over a year later. Blown away. Made my top five, which says a lot since I'm an old curmudgeon who's seen a lot of movies from the 1930's onwards.

I know most won't believe me, but yeah, I don't hate LMI. I've seen it a number of times and I don't hate it. I still don't think its better then LTROI, but that totally comes down to my own subjective state of mind.

But yeah, I don't hate LMI. For what it is, its a solid remake. I just wanted more from it. I wanted to go even further into the source material. So imagine my disappointment upon first watching it to realize that it deviates even further away from the source material (being the book)

But over time, I've come to appreciate it as being a solid remake

I did. The overwhelming majority of people like the version they first of course (that goes for movies and songs which are remade). I'm one of the few who prefer the one I saw second.

Saw LTROI first and liked it. Had no plans to see LMI since I had already seen the first movie and did not care for Reeves' Cloverfield. Seeing The Road and Kick Ass in summer of 2010 changed my mind. I ended up loving LMI far more. It just connected with my on an emotional level and provided me food for thought with the additions to the story.

I love both movies. They're two of my favorite movies.
