Tearjerk Moments?

Anyone have any of these? For me it was when Kermit sang "Pictures In My Head". So sad to see him singing about the old days and what went wrong.

reply

Several come to mind:

1. Seeing the photo of Kermit and Jim Henson on the wall of Kermit's office.

2. "Pictures In My Head."

3. Fozzie's alley "office." Fozzie's always touching when he's down and out. Besides, it's a nice callback to where Kermit found him in "The Muppet Movie."

4. Kermit being down and out after the meeting with Tex Richman. Everytime Kermit is sad, you just want to hug the little green guy and tell him everything will be all right.

5. "Rainbow Connection." I'm sorry, but if you weren't crying, smiling, singing along or a combination of all three while this was on, you have no soul.

6. The ending. Yes, Kermit, we always love you and always will.

Def Rainbow Connection and yeah Pictures and also the Muppets Theme.

So raise your glass..

Glad I'm not the only one who got misty in this movie. First I got misty when I saw Hugo and they had the trailer for Beauty and the Beast, misty, then they had the trailer for Titanic, misty again, then misty through several scenes in Hugo and went right to another theater to see The Muppets and did it again. Actually had to wipe away a tear when they go outside and the sea of fans are there to greet them. I have to see this one again. LOVED IT!!!

Not gonna lie, I cried at almost everything. No joke. All the tearjerker moments that have been listed here got me going but all the happy parts too - especially at the end when they walk out of the theatre and the streets were packed with cheering fans.

reply

Rainbow Connection. Also, when Walter screamed forEVER after he heard Tex Richman's plan. However, those tears were tears of laughter.

"It's beyond my control."

reply

It started with the Kermit/Henson Photo in Kermit's old office and just kept going.

I am sitting here watching the first film, eagerly waiting the release of season four.

All the ones already mentioned made me very emotional but there are also a couple happy-tears moments I don't think anyone's mentioned yet that stuck with me afterwards.

First was during the telethon when we see Veronica in the wings smiling, crying and applauding. Remember that she had said that she loved the Muppets when she was a kid, and then she grew up into a cold, hard, cynical person when they faded into obscurity. Her expression tells us she's reminded once again of the simple joy the Muppets brought her and countless others. She knows that allowing the Muppets their spot was the best decision she'd ever made.

Second was when Gary teared up watching Walter perform onstage. He just looked so proud of his brother and so happy that Walter had finally found his place in the world. It's something all parents and older siblings relate to.

Revenge is like ice cream. It's sweet and best served cold.

Same here! I hope the success of this movie will help launch the release of season 4. I want that Mark Hamill episode on DVD! That was season 4, right? Or season 5?

"A bomb in the lasagna?! Great Scott!"

reply

Funny you mention Mark Hamill, I really wanted him to jump onstage and whistle with Walter...

For me it was when Kermit and Piggy sang Rainbow Connection. Having grown up watching the Muppet Show and the original Henson movies, this really reminded me how great these movies are.

I had my 5YO son on my lap and I felt like a real goose when this scene happened.

Walter: "It's time to play the music."
Gary: "It's time to light the lights."

Cue silent tears.

And I had "Together Again" stuck in my head all weekend.

Oh wow... For me, the whole movie was a veritable deluge of those emotional moments that hit me in the back of the throat and made my eyes water. I felt like a big baby getting all teary-eyed and nostalgic with my childhood favorites back on the big screen again making their comeback.

All of the songs you guys mentioned all did it for me... Rainbow Connection, Life's a Happy Song, Pictures in my head, Man or Muppet... it all did me in. lol When the theater started filling as the telethon got underway... Kermit's speech and subsequent exit of the theater to the screaming crowd... It was just a great trip from beginning to end... from joy to sadness to a steady lift of joy as all the gang got back together and put on the show. Love this movie!!

EDIT: OMG I just read someone else's response and I totally forgot... The pictures of Jim Henson! Those moments were just surreal.

When they all sang Rainbow Connection, man that brought the tears. Then at the end when you though they were going to leave like no one still cared for them just to see the crowd cheer for them outside. Man I'm getting misty eyed just thinking about it. I never forgot you Kermit!!

As other people have said, it reminds me a lot of Toy Story 3. It's a really depressing movie. It's seeing all the characters we grew up with at really hard times in their lives. Even the stage is falling apart. Kind of the state of childhood lost. Rusted away with a lot of cobwebs. Makes you think of what you lost. Then seeing it restored to greatness, again brings a lot of emotional weight to it.

I also kind of wonder how children see the movie. For adults, we're on the same journey of wondering where all that joy and magic from childhood went and slowly but surely regaining it. Which is exactly what Toy Story 3 picked up on as well. Childhood nostalgia just seems to be a very tear-jerking thing.

Yes. She really represented all of us who grew up with the Muppets.

-Walter walking into the old studio office and seeing the picture of Jim Henson with Kermit on the wall.

-Rainbow Connection

-Kermit's speech at the end/the huge crowd gathered outside the theatre

Word, though I wouldn't call it depressing, but touching.

It never went anywhere, we just grew up. However, it's very important to never lose touch with your inner child. Thankfully we'll be seeing more movies like Toy Story 3 and The Muppets because in the 2010's 90's nostalgia is going to be big.

It's a very tear-jerking thing because we realize how far we've come as people, and that despite how grown up we may have become we can still enjoy stuff from our childhood.

I went to a leadership training for my graduate program in a big city several hours away this past weekend. I'm 24 and still live with my dad (though I basically have my own place). I stayed with my sister, who lives 15 minutes away from where my training was held. I found my way all around the city without getting lost. At the conference I met so many amazing people who really inspired me. I've never felt like more of a mature adult. During that weekend when I crashed at my sister's place, she reminded me of when we were little and we used to sleep in the same room together. Later that weekend we went to my Godmother's house. She had gotten a Wii. Me and my sister played the Super Mario Bros. remake. We played great as a team because we grew up with that game for the NES/SNES. That night I cried a bit. The two contrasts between feeling like an adult and at the same time being overrun with feelings of nostalgia felt amazing. I realized that it really is possible to have the best of both worlds.

reply

-The dialog between Kermit and Fozzy while they are all going to sleep after fixing up the theater was a tear-jerker for me.

-"Rainbow Connection"

-When the Muppets leave the theater only to encounter thousands of screaming fans, and Walter lifted on the shoulders of the others.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?
