So Much For Feminism

This movie made $25.5 Million for 3 Days on a Budget of $168 Million?? If this isn't a sign to stop doing this, then I don't know what is?? It made the last one "FURY ROAD" look obsolete.. This performed WORSE than The MARVELS?? πŸ˜‚

reply

Perhaps any Mad Max movie would have performed the same , with or without the female

reply

No

reply

Double no.

I don't think it had anything to do with feminism. The Mad Max movies have limited appeal and if the main character was a man it likely would not have made much of a difference.

reply

Yeah, people who think it's failing because it's a female lead movie, are silly. Look at Atlas on Netflix, starring Jennifer Lopez and it's a big hit.

To be fair, that example is a streaming movie and not really comparable. Otherwise stuff like Rebel Moon can be considered a hit too.

I get your point. I just think that the average movie goer doesn't really care if a movie has female or male lead, if something looks interesting they'll see it.

For me the world of Mad Max is really fascinating and I'll watch any movie set in the world. Male or female lead. I was very happy that Furiosa turned out to be great.

reply

Yeah despite some qualms I still enjoyed Furiosa overall. It's just disappointing it being a massive flop has probably killed any chance for another outing with Max and perhaps the series overall. Considering Miller's age we probably only had one more of these with him too. Oh well.

reply

Yeah I usually don't care if a movie flops or not, but in this case it's disappointing because it most likely means no Mad Max 5.

reply

The movie is silly. George has leaned too hard into the absurdity. Dexter Jettster!

reply

We need a nitty gritty edition like 2017 Logan with Mel back in the helm.
