I didn't think I'd like Furiosa...but I was surprised.

Just got home from the showing...and wow, I was surprised, it was actually really good! 9 out of 10. I even liked it more than Fury Road! Heck, it has its moments...I might even put it at the top of all Mad Max movies.

After seeing the terrible "Fall Guy", I sort of felt movies were starting to get lame. I heard that Anya Taylor-Joy didn't have many lines in this one. I'm not the biggest Chris Hemsworth fan. And that Mad Max wasn't even in it. So...I didn't give it much of a chance at being good. Even if I was reluctant though, its George Miller, it's a Mad Max story...I had to go on opening day. And, really, I was into it from the start...it's a real fast-paced movie from the very beginning and definitely not PG-13. It was an action movie for adults. Hard to find nowadays. (And Hemsworth changed my mind too, he was funny as hell!)

The thing I found most surprising...spoiler alert...Anya Taylor-Joy doesn't appear until about an hour into it! Watching it and being immersed into the story, I actually forgot she was in it until she appeared. How often do you forget the star of the movie is in the movie?! Very unique start to a movie. I don't say this often nowadays...but it was a great flick. A lot of action, a lot of being on the road like in Fury Road, some characters from Fury Road appear...I highly recommend it.

Anyone else surprised?

I saw it with a buddy last night. I grew up watching the original Mad Max movies, with The Road Warrior being my favorite. Maybe it was because I had low expectations and really didn't have much interest in what felt like an unnecessary tangent to the Mad Max "universe", but I have to admit, there were some really great moments throughout this one that elevated my experience. I especially enjoyed a new character they introduced about mid-way through who brought a new aspect to these films, which for me, made this one my second favorite Mad Max movie. For what it's worth, I also think the storyline in Furiosa is probably the most fleshed out of all five movies.

I don't expect everyone to agree with this, but it's rare that movie franchises are able to maintain the same level of quality and entertainment value after the first or second film (i.e. Alien/Aliens, Die Hard, etc.), but so far, this one's been different, and I credit George Miller with that.

'what felt like an unnecessary tangent to the Mad Max "universe"'

I kinda feel the same (and about the John Wick spin-off, Ballerina - hope I'm wrong).

John wick is way better, you know this...

Red Letter Media nailed it. They compared the 2 movies to Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2. This Film is slower paced and does an amazing job in world building and showing us how the universe ticks. It's legit the best movie I've seen in the theater since Fury Road.

I just came back from seeing it. I wasn't really surprised, I was pretty confident that I'd like it and I absolutely loved it. It wasn't quite as good as Fury Road, but how can you top that anyway? I really like that George Miller did something a little different with this one instead of just repeating what made Fury Road great.

Fury Road is a masterpiece and Furiosa isn't that far behind.

Hemsworth was great and so was Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack. And Anya Taylor-Joy kicked ass!

My rating for Furiosa 9/10

It’s one of the best films of the year so far. George Miller is still the king of directing vehicular action sequences and the world-building here is fantastic.

I only hope we can at least now get one final Mad Max film with Tom Hardy in the next couple of years and perhaps Charlize as Furiosa. But if not then the Mad Max saga has ended on a high note with both Fury Road and Furiosa.

but also… right in the beginning they show a little girl amazingly climbing a rock wall with the greatest of ease. i was hoping that little girl was not furiosa but one of the other girls from the green place, which would show that a lot of the girls have been trained to survive and are good at it, not just furiosa. but it turned out it was furiosa after all and that she was already good at everything type character.

but after that i still found myself enjoying the movie and by the end i liked it.
