Hunter S. Thompson

Did anyone else notice this nod? It's at the beginning where Rango slams into the windshield and the smiley face cracks. You can see clearly that the driver is Hunter S. Thompson and he says, "It's another one!" like as in "This is bat country!" Anyway I thought it was really funny and wondered if anyone else caught the reference?

Excellent. Very nice nod... Great movie.

Also - I don't think it's a young kids film. This has some real abstract themes at the beginning... Rango's in a dark and lonely place, and his monologue inspires real thought.

I'd imagine older kids getting it, but some of the caricatures are scary awesome.

I thought it was great. That's the only reason I watched this movie, I heard there would be Hunter S. Thompson references in it.

Yes, I noticed that immediately.

It was Hunter as played by Johnny Depp.

It's that man again!!

Apparently the credit for JD playing "Lars" is in fact for voicing the HJT character, as they didn't want to put the real name.
