Incest?

I felt like there was some subtext hinting at an incestuous relationship between the two siblings... the only overt thing I can recall is when Linda tries to kiss him in that underground room with all the blue & purple lights (when she's on Ecstasy, I think), but other than that she's just ... very open with her sexuality around him. I don't have a brother so I don't know what it's like, and I'm sure some people would say "with a sibling that's just not something you ever think of", but personally, even if I were a stripper, I would keep covered up around my brother - not to mention the fact that she was always sort of ... leaning in toward him.

Or am I imagining all of this?

reply

You're not imagining it. There was some hint and subtext, but nothing definitive.

reply

I didn't think that was all that weird since she was on ecstasy, what tripped me out was her licking his ear... That was a definite WTF moment for me.

reply

YES, that was v weird! if my sister ever kissed my ear or neck id freak out and disown her...(unless it wasnt like the film and i found out i had a really attractive sister id never met...that might be different)

reply

That wasn't his sister that's when he shagged his friend's mother.

reply

I'm sure jus after his sister arrives they're walking through some kind of fair and she's tryin to kiss his ear ...

reply

Yeah, his sister totally kisses and puts his ear in her mouth just after she arrives.

And I don't think I'd hang out at the club and watch my sister strip either, which he did at least three times that is shown

reply

yea, id forgotten about that!! (unless its to protect her i suppose, but i still wouldnt be having any fun)

reply

Uhhh everyones forgetting he also sniffs her underwear.... so there is definitely something going on there

The kissing on the ear scene was pretty hot lol. Dont care what anybody says

Was it me or the end scene he seemed to make love to her through his friend. That's what I got through that scene

reply

i remember one scene when he wakes up and she's sleeping naked, in a bed next to him.

it remind me a lot of the brothers in "the dreamers". anyone else saw the connection?

Everyone on this board is definitely looking at their relationship wrong.

Oscar and Linda went through a terrible, traumatic experience with each other. The examples that everyone is giving are just examples of this, with the exception of the scene in which Linda is on ecstasy. She only tries to kiss him BECAUSE of the ecstasy, and because Alex is trying to hard to get her into bed - she even acknowledges this.

As for the other examples, them being comfortable in the nude together, etc. They are used to having little to no money, sharing a place with only 1 room, and things like that. So really, they weren't sleeping together. They were just comfortable with each other, as well as traumatized by a fatal accident in which they both survive. It can screw with your head, an experience like that.

reply

His ghost comes back to hump her! I don't have a sister, but sex with a hot sister must cross the mind of any male at least occasionally

reply

Well that's just sick.

I definitely think there was incest there. What brother and sister walk around hand in hand together like that!? Me and my sister would never hold hands, or link arms, or kiss each other on the neck, or nibble on each other's ear, or be naked around each other.

When she got to Japan, it looked like they were dating for a while. Even at the beginning of the film, I thought she was his girlfriend.

But then again, if I hadn't seen my sister since she was a little girl, and she grew up to be hot with a hot bod, and I lived in a different continent with no relatives or anyone to recognize me or my sister, then I would do it! LOL

Come on, that body is banging!

Has anybody watched Delta? Anyway, if that film is to be believed, lust between siblings who were separated early in life is common once they're reunited.

There definitely was. The movie, or should I say the soul's intent isn't to support any world view. It shows just 'what is'. There is no right and wrong, only cause and effect. It's not uncommon for siblings to be separated to end up lusting/falling in love for each other. The movie was showing the cause and effect of their forceful separation at a young age. The cause lead to a downfall in both of their lives. They seek out union with each other, perhaps for family, something to tie them down to earth but they lose it in a heart wrenching way.
