so the nuclear attack at the beginning........

was a coding error. lol

a human coding error. I'd be curious to see what kind of error leads to -> Nuke LA.

If you are a programmer, you would know that its likely. At least in this universe, where you can board a spaceship to Mars and fly to the most secure military air base even when the military is full aware of the presence of a top terrorist on board.

And it was mentioned very casually in a quiet moment from memory, compared to the more notable presentation at the start which suggests the AI turned against us and deliberately bombed LA. People staring at their phones could easily have missed it.

reply

well itll be a sad day when films are written so that people glued to their phones can keep track of them

reply

They kind of already are, with music which rises sharply towards the end of a scene so people are distracted from their 'distraction' and pay attention again.

Maybe the AI was told false information, but still believes it to be true. I've caught Google's AI Bard in a lie quite a few times. It always apologizes after though so it's all good.

reply

Ooh, do Google Gemini next. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

There is lots of false information on the internet right now. Why wouldn't it be possible for AI to believe false information in the future? This film makes the declaration that both sides accuse the other. Why assume one is accurate and another isn't?
