Its true and the only thing that made Bayer finally agree is that Bay and his cronies pretty much told him that if he did not direct it, they would make sure he never directed any film in Hollywood. They wanted Bayer for his iconic music videos that had dream like qualities and were surreal. They forget that there is more to Nightmare on Elm Street than cool looking visual effects. Still, I do not think this remake is near as bad as people say it is.
im surprised to hear about pd threatening Bayer, but then i wonder why they cut out so many scenes if they wanted him that bad. their was suppose to be a pool scene, a few church scenes and Freddy killing Quentin
I think it was a bad move on their part to get Bayer to direct this considering it had been quite a while since he was ever considered a "visual wizard" for his music video/commercial work.
Rob Zombie would've made it worse. His HALLOWEEN films annoy the hell out of me.
I don't think he could have made the NOES remake any worse than it actually is. Maybe it would have been a little bit more fun to watch if directed by him.
