Why Can't They Make This An Epic Series
Like Breaking Bad, etc.
Just bone out the money and do it right.

I present you the 2000 sci-fi channel miniseries
shareI agree... they should have done this for HBO Max and taken their time.
shareIt is funny how in the past we all wanted our TV shows to become movie standard, and now we want movies to have the time to tell stories over an entire series.
This would work perfectly. Several arcs over seasons. *Major Character* dying would have been the ideal Season 1 finale. The end of this movie a finale for ending Season 2.
They can’t because an EPIC is a poem and can ONLY be a poem. That is the definition of an epic. Look it up. The Odyssey is an epic, because Homer wrote a frigging poem. Breaking Bad is doggerel, prosaic, not in any way an epic. Jeez, look up words before using them.
shareWould "epicurean" work for you?
shareHmmmm

I had that same "hmmm" moment
Epic: a series of events or body of legend or tradition thought to form the proper subject of an epic.
I would call Dune an Epic, and this definition (number 3 on that list) supports that description.
I always thought of Conan the Barbarian as an Epic, and it fits the bill.
They made the miniseries about 20 years ago. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great.
shareI agree, Dune should have been another Game Of Thrones kinda thing... or what Amazon seems to be attempting with Lord Of The Rings... or Disney's Mandalorian.
shareif it makes you feel better, the quality of this movie feels like a show. as in, it's kinda bad. also there's already a show. it's better to condense this story down than have another long ass show. it cuts out the boring parts. an great example is the movie "all the money in the world" vs the tv show "trust." both tells the same story but the show was so damn boring. the movie basically cut out all the boring parts and was just better than the show in every way. based on how slow and boring the dune movie is in ep 1, thank god they're not making a show.
shareIt can't be that boring - it's the number one selling science fiction book. All the nerd in the 1970's were reading this thing, and I think the book was thicker than "Shogun." I saw the movie with Sting in the theater when it came out, and parts seemed pretty cool, but the story felt disjointed.
