Really good movie.

I re-watched the reboot trilogy in preparation for this. And I had a very good time seeing it today in theaters. Like it's nothing masterful and it does have some issues, but it's still a good movie and it's an example of a 4th installment that doesn't suck (looking at you Superman IV).

So my rating for this is an 8/10

No. I was referring to the fact that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is a much better 4th installment that Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (more like The Quest for Failure).

Oh ok, thanks for clarifying. I thought originally that maybe Superman battled the apes and guided the humans back to global domination

That is definitely a plus and both Freya Allan and the main apes cast did a good job with their performances. I think it starts a bit slow but it was a decent ride.

Yeah. The slow pacing was one of my main issues with the movie along with the fact that the villain wasn't given enough screentime before he got killed in the climax. Maybe there are some deleted scenes that feature him but we'll see as soon as the Blu-Ray release comes out.
