The first film has a 59 on Metacritic, and anyone who puts their faith in reviewers these days has serious brainrot. That said, the complaints could be well founded - time will tell.
shareThat's Venice, lots of art film reviewers. US critics will rate it higher sometime before October.
Wed night 54 from 23 reviews: https://www.metacritic.com/movie/joker-folie-a-deux/critic-reviews/
The first also premiered at Venice to mostly positive reviews. In fact, more of the mixed/negative reviews came from US critics closer to release.
shareThe first film was a disappointment, largely because there was very little actual Joker action. Maybe it was budgetary concerns but very little of the movie had the Joker actually being the Joker.
It sounds like this film will subject us to even more disappointment.
Most would disagree with you about the first.
shareEveryone has an opinion. Mine is that the first film was dull and not really a "Joker" movie.
shareI found the first movie to be extremely depressing and this one looks to be more of the same, only with ridiculous singing and dancing. Maybe Gag Gag will wear a meat dress
shareI agree about it being depressing. When I first heard that a Joker movie was being made, I expected more a fun tone. Also more of the the Joker being Joker.
The film is not really a Joker movie. It's an Arthur Fleck movie.
