Christine wasn't THAT bad of a person.....

One thing that angers me about the movie!

There are people on here saying that Christine deserved everything she got. Err, sorry what? She denied a woman of a LOAN... I really don't think she deserved to burn in hell for ETERNITY for this. I'm pretty sure everyone of us have done something just as bad OR worse than this in our lives! Do we deserve to go to hell too?

And also, by saying she deserved to be sent there, is like saying she is as awful as murderers and rapists, who obviously DO deserve it! And yet, just by doing her job (regardless of why she denied the woman - even if it was for a selfish purpose, which I'm pretty sure a few people have done in the past) she is sent to hell, to burn for eternity! Grrr...

Rant over, thank you :)

I agree with you she was a good person only doing her job I felt so sorry for her. She had broad ambitions.

In my opinion...

Christine was wrong that she would accept throwing an old lady out on the streets in exchange for a chance to look good for a promotion. This was greed at work on a young woman who was desperately trying to prove she wasn't just some farm girl.

The old lady on the other hand was wrong to assume she can just NOT pay her bills and be excused three times simply because she is disabled or sick. If you are no longer able to work and provide a roof for yourself, you must submit to living with a family member or a senior home. The bank is a business and it's losing money every time they extend her mortgage. Most people are lucky to get two extensions. She was not special and did not deserve a third extension without proof that she could make the payments in the future.

So therefore, Christine may have been greedy but the old lady was also a deadbeat with too much pride. It doesn't matter if Christine gave her the extension or not, the old lady would continue to ride the bank and guess what? Ask for a fourth extension. In reality, she is evil because she uses her dark magic to get revenge on people who don't give her what she wants.

Christine didn't deserve to go to hell. Maybe she deserved a little tormenting so she would realize what she did wrong but to die and go to hell is too far. The old lady should in fact be the one who goes to hell for using black magic to send other people to hell for personal reasons.

Christine was just doing her job. It bugs me that ppl say she deserved to burn in hell. The woman already had TWO extensions. The bank can't keep granting her extensions. That's what business is. Everybody has money problems. You can't help everyone.

No. If she had been "just doing her job" she would have granted the extension. Her job involves deciding whether to grant or deny extensions; she was of the opinion that granting the extension was the right thing to do in this case; and was explicitly told it was her call.

It had nothing to do with doing her job. It had to do with beating out Stu for a promotion.

> The woman already had TWO extensions.

So?

> The bank can't keep granting her extensions.

Maybe not forever. But there is plenty of equity in the home. No risk for the bank. No need to be cruel.

Yeah I think people have missed the point. It's not what she did. It's who she did it to.

She cruelly, heinously murdered her pet kitten for trying to get out of HER curse. That's horrible!

No "curse" can send someone to hell. No "demon" can send someone to hell. It's all about the man upstairs. If He thinks you are a good person, you are going upstairs to be with Him, eternally. If He thinks that you are a bad person, then you are going down, way past "Go", and you won't collect $200. We can look at it from a fictional standpoint in the movie, where a curse could send someone to hell. Was Christine evil? Was she good? She killed her kitten. She sought divination (going to the fortune teller), which is an abomination in God's eyes. She even had an evil thought of sending the sick man in the diner to hell by giving him the envelope. Little did she know that the envelope DID NOT contain the button from her coat. She even thought of giving it to the waitress, who she was arguing about when talking about her drinking nothing but coffee. She said, "I'll give you a tip you'll never forget!" She even thought about giving the envelope to Stu. That's pretty evil. So, maybe she DID deserve to go to hell. But in reality, God's the only one to make the decision on if someone goes to Heaven or Hell. Jesus holds the keys to hell. It's not ruled by satan. Never has been, never will. It's reserved for satan and his demons, and for the unrepentant sinners. No demons are down there, or ever will be down there, that can drag you to hell. It's up to God if you go there.

I would agree with you: [Surely] There are murderers, rapist, psychopaths, whom would be worthy of such a curse; Not a poor loan officer.... Which tends to support the idea, that gypsies who are capable of such powerful magiks, are petty & cruel, utilizing such power for petty reason, & reasons not worthy of a cause.....
