Why didn't they at least call this 5cream? They put the 4 in the title in part 4, so this would make sense.

I'm guessing they wanted this to be seen as some kind of soft reboot or something so they called it Scream (yeah they should have just called it Scream V), but then they throw that concept right out the window with the next one by calling is Scream 6. In all honesty though the titles in the Scream franchise are not as illogical as the titles in the Rambo franchise.

Maybe they thought they could get away with it because the teen audience they were aiming at wasn’t even born when the first Scream came out.

Otherwise they could have gone a bit corny with “Let’s Scream Again” or “Taking a Stab at Another Scream”.

Stupid calling it just Scream when the follow-up was called Scream 6. Also, in any conversation about the Scream franchise people usually call this movie Scream 5 so as not to cause confusion with the first one. I always call it Scream 5.

Whenever this is on a TV and listed in a TV guide, the chances are, no one will bother watching it, because they will see the title Scream and they'll just think it's Scream (1996) which they have most likely seen before on more than once occasion.
