The 1st Scream movie crapped on the slasher genre
Only smug wankers like this series.
shareThank you for saying this. I have always hated these movies.
shareIt didn't crap on the slasher genre at all. It just pointed out it flaws while also paying tribute to it. Why would a horror movie fan like Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven of all people crap on the genre???
shareBecause legit slasher movies had run their course and Wes Craven figured out how to squeeze some more money out of it with these smug, meta cringe movies for casuals.
shareWait, so Craven craps on his own work and that of his colleagues just because he figured out moviegoers wanted a fresh take on the genre??? Absolute nonsense. He went on to make 3 serious horror movies between Scream and Scream 4, which shows he still respected the genre.
Scream is also a legit slasher by the way.
It's perfectly normal for things to evolve over time. Maybe you haven't evolved much. But movies, genres, technology, things change.
shareYou're an unbearably smug twat, but that's what I expect from Scream fans.
shareAnd you use the term "smug twat" for anyone who disagrees with your opinion, I guess you win lmao
shareYes, he does win. Scream franchise SUCKS.
It was sarcasm. Only a loser gets so worked up over not being able to convince everyone to agree with their opinion. It's an opinion, so it doesn't matter. If I'm the only one on here who likes the movie, I won't lose any sleep over it. But he has to hurl insults at people because they like something he doesn't. I'm not worried about it, and that'll be my last comment :)
shareEh, I see where you're coming from. Whenever someone tells me their favorite slasher (or even Horror) film is Scream I do roll my eyes a bit and assume they're some casual who doesn't actually like slasher (or horror) films, as snobby as that is, it's the feeling I get.
I have to say I do quite like the first Scream, never cared for the sequels and it's far from being my favorite slasher film, it would struggle to make the top 15, but I totally understand your sentiment. The way you feel about Scream is how I feel about The Cabin in the Woods, that's a horror film for people who don't like horror films.
