Not many sympathetic characters - and 2nd half of season is worse

My wife and me quite enjoyed the first season of the show. We enjoyed the story, the politics and the family drama. A bit of a slow build-up though with a bit too less action.

A little less conversation, a little more action please.

Paddy Considine did a great job. Milly Alcock as well. And Matt Smith I like in just about anything. I did enjoy their acting as well as their characters.

With time jumps many actors changed. And even though the same character, many of them just not feel the same. It's not just the looks. Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke just fall short compared to their younger counterparts. Especially Rhaenyra does not even feel remotely the same character anymore. Yes, time...babies etc. But there should be a bit of the younger self left.

Then there are really just too many characters. There are so many kids, heirs, sons, daughters, bastards.

Aegon is tolerable, Aemond decent. Jace and Luke are two wimps that are just plainly annoying. And annoyingly bad at acting. Not that I'm better.... but then again I don't act.

For the other heirs and kids...I can't even tell them all apart. And so many of the characters in general are just unlikeable. Really don't care for most of the characters fates. Live, die ... I don't care. And that doesn't help the story.

Still, it was an enjoyable watch. For the story-writing and the actors I mentioned. I will watch season 2 surely. Which will probably be out before GRR Martin finishes his GOT books (will he ever?)

Hopefully the characters will get more interesting, the acting amped up a bit. And please: Less CGI (e.g. Dragonstone not being shot in Spain on location - and it was obvious) and "night" filters.

I enjoyed the show as a whole but I have to agree, things were never the same, or as good after the time jump. The younger cast were so much better. After the time jump and actor change I must admit I struggled to tell who was who. I don’t mind Matt Smith as an actor but didn’t think he suited his role in HOTD.

However I will definitely be watching S2, looking forward to it.

Don't worry the few sympathetic characters, will be beheaded before the show over.

They turned a show about a ruling family with dragons into the most boring soap opera with bad casting, and terrible green screen/cgi. I finished the season but couldn't watch more than about 20 minutes of an episode before switching to something else.

So, I guess the important question is...what did you switch to?

Dazed and Confused, on one occasion.
