Do I need to see GOT before this?
Especially since it occurs before GOT?
sharespoiler... there's dragons
shareNot really. Watching GoT also kind of giving away the ending.
shareThe first episode has some Easter eggs for game of thrones viewers, but doesn't look like anything that is gonna take away from the story. Really if you watch this first, game of thrones will have a lot of house of the dragon Easter eggs.
shareNo.
After giving it much thought, I decided to do the same and watch this first before trying Game of Thrones. It’s ok so far. I’ll continue watching.
shareI would watch GoT first as the first four seasons are some of the best television of the 21st century. I was hooked after the very first episode. Start with HoD and if it isn't that good, you may be turned off to the GoT world forever.
shareTo me, it's hard to answer this. GoT was a really great show. It will be difficult for this to live up to the legacy GoT created. But it can't necessarily hurt to watch this first but the only problem is, if HOTD turns out to be just mediocre entertainment then it will spoil your desire to watch GoT and that's unfortunate because it was a fascinating show.
I think the best thing to do might be to just watch both of them. You can binge-watch GoT during the week and then watch HOTD on the weekends or whatever...
It might be good just to read up a little bit on GOT first. "A Wiki of Ice and Fire" is a good place to go, since wikipedia is a little limited on telling how the show goes.
