Question to anyone who dislikes 'The Hangover'
Do/did you enjoy partying and getting drunk?
It would explain a lot to me if the answer would be 'no'.

no, not really I dont.
but just because i dont play golf or lived my childhood in the 80s doesnt mean I dont find Happy Gilmore or The Wedding Singer a hell of a lot funnier and rewatchable than The Hangover.
The antics in this one just seem forced and over-the-top that it's not funny at all. Never cared for the lost guy if they found him either.
Beerfest > The Hangover
I watched this for the first time last night and didn't laugh once I cant believe this was a hit

Really? Happy Gilmore isn't over the top? What a selective and nitpicky opinion you have.
shareAMEN! Beerfest was about 100x funnier.
shareThe Wedding SingerI found that unwatchable yet I do like Jack and Jill and the Hot Chick. Guess we are all different in our tastes. Likeing one thing does not mean you will like another obviously.
What an idiotic question and assumption. Do you only enjoy movies that strictly adhere to your lifestyle?
sharei partied my ass of in my time im 29
and from about 16-25 i partied went to vegas a few times(most overrated place to go to) just like the movie
i had worse nights then in the movie worst hangovers, and this movie was not funny at all whatsoever!
What Women Want is funnier thats all i have to say about this piece of garbage!
and WWW is horrible! LOL
Somehow I don't believe that you party your ass "of" for 9 years, because who will stops partying at 25? Not some one with a decade of partying. Hell an average college boy has worse nights and hangovers every month, than the one in the hangover. And everyone I know that party their asses "of" since their were 16 and kept partying for years, are still doing so when they are 29 or older, even if their are married have a job and children, thats why they have weekends. If you don't believe me call my roommates father, I've seen him drink more than any of my college friends, including his son.
Las vegas is the most overrated place if your under 21, don't got no money, or simply don't like to gamble, drink, or party. With the right amount of money you can pretty much do anything in las vegas, which is the whole point, go there to do *beep* you can't do back home or simply are too ashamed to.
The hangover is just a fun movie, nothing feels forced or too surreal and thats hard to do when you have a shoot out, stolen cop car, tyson's tiger, stripper who go married to your friend and left her baby, lost friend and a kidnapped gangster. And if I spoiled this movie, too bad you deserved it if you haven't still seen it. This movie never loses momentum, and their jokes are still funny after the 20th viewing. Those who don't like this movie are either way too serious, or simply hate it because everyone else is making a big deal and think this movie is crazy good.
I'm not too serious. Then again I didn't dislike this movie, I just got tired of the same jokes over and over again. Dick and fart jokes are one thing and taking them to the next level is fine and can be hilarious done the right way, but this movie reminded me of an SNL skit that goes on too long.
I laughed in certain scenes and certain things were funny, but you're right when people start to hype it up as the funniest thing in the last decade, that's when I gotta say I disagree.
I have family that loved this movie, I have family that didn't like this movie, and friends and family that feel the way I do. None of them take themselves too seriously, so that's a pretty ignorant statement to make about people who didn't like this movie. We all have different styles of humor. That's what makes this world great.
I hate this movie because I'd only been watching it for 10 seconds before the film insulted all gay people. I only had to wait two minutes for the next insult to all gay people. In two more minutes a third vile insult to gays followed. I then turned it off. I don't watch comedy films hoping to be insulted. Everyone associated with this film is now dead to me.
shareYour gay.
shareI'm glad you pointed that out, this is exactly why I came to this thread.
For people who don't know, this movie uses the f-word (the one that refers to gay people) and everyone laughs. They use it three times. It's incredibly hurtful to people who grew up being called that as they were being shoved into lockers, for people who asked the Administration of their schools to do something about it and only got "boys will be boys."
Just imagine if they had said, "Paging Dr. N-word in the movie. Would it be just as funny? Or would you feel uncomfortable knowing that that word was used against a group of people, largely without consequence, for a long time?
All this BS about 'WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN' makes me wanna laugh and curse at the juvenile reactions towards every pejorative the PC crowd cries over.
It's ridiculous to have to factor in the fragile psyche of every homosexual or minority who got bullied in fifth grade, not to mention the bleeding hearts that come crawling out the woodwork every time someone says/does something controversial.
If you get psychologically tormented by hearing a hate word spewed in a context totally unrelated to you, then YOU are the one that needs to find a way to overcome it. People should stop tiptoeing around sensitive subjects on the grounds that MAYBE, one person in a million will feel hurt by it. What idiotic nonsense.

Within thirty seconds, the word that popped into my mind was "puerile," and I don't appreciate that type of humor. I value intelligent humor, and this isn't it, and yes, I knew it, and yep, I thank whoever that I didn't have to watch it. I was in the same ROOM with the TV that was playing the movie, but I was able to read instead. If I had my way, I would have turned the TV off.

@CISNED.....Well "Cisned" i Partied my ass off from the time i was 16 till about the time i was 24, minus the year i Spent in Iraq of course. I was in the Navy for 4 years, i've partied more in those 4 years than most ppl party in a lifetime. and all of the sudden i lost the taste for alcohol and lost the want to party. Sometimes it just happens that way man, hell even a year and a half after i've stopped my friends will have to sit there and talk and talk and talk me into drinking one beer, and usually the only time i'll drink a beer is if there are a few ppl at my house and we are playing beer pong. So YES its very possible cause i've done it. Hell beer pong will make anyone drink lol. But yea awesome movie, and the second one is awesome too

"College boys" are hardly the biggest drinkers in the world. Apparently you've never seen an actual alcoholic before.

There's a word for that, it's "pathetic."
i had worse nights then in the movie worst hangoversYou had a worse night than they had? I find that hard to believe. Please list details. Especially topping being put in a trunk, pulling out your own tooth, getting tasered by the cops, etc
Yep love going out and getting wasted, no didn't find The Hangover laugh out loud funny. It did make me smile a couple of time and I do think it's better to watch this kind of movie with a bunch of friends, laughter is contagious.
Not to sound superior but I just think I'm getting too old for this kind of frat boy humour, I have a feeling of been there done that.
The IT Crowd (UK) episode 'The Work Outing' is the only comedy that has really had tears running down my face recently, in particular the scenes with Roy in the wheelchair and Moss behind the bar, (anyone who has seen this will know exactly what I'm talking about!).
'Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day'
I thought the concept would make for a really funny film, but honestly.. I didn't laugh once. I like nearly all the most popular comedies( and not so popular ones ) .. but The Hangover just left me amazed by how unfunny it was. I could see how the writers tried to make funny situations, but they never came off.
If I had watched it off my head on something, then maybe I would have laughed.
OOOOooo yeah, i've partied. But this movie....sucked.
It reminds me of a story I wrote in the 3rd grade were I got kidnapped by everything in a catalog I went through. And that's it, it reminds me of what a 3rd grader would write.
-=1000 travel books are not equal to 1 real trip=-
im 22 and yeah i get wasted....this movie was okay. def overrated. movies i find funny are step brothers and tropic thunder. i also like inception but doesnt mean i sneak into people dreams

No I don't enjoy getting drunk, however I DO enjoy movies about people who do (usually).
The Hangover was just so incredibly dry, and not that good British humour kind of dry, but dry as in not funny.
Funnier movies with Drinking?, Superbad, Animal House, Fubar, and pretty much any other comedy that involved drinking other than the Hangover.
Most over-rated comedy in history (A close second goes to Talladega Nights)

I'm a movie snob, I admit, but I thought this movie sounded like a great idea - backtracking through a horrendous night where crazy things ensued - seemed like it should have so much potential. I never got to see it until visiting my best buddy whom I had not seen for several years. We had been living it up like our college years, when we started talking about the movie as it was one of the few he had in his humble collection. Throughout the film I really wanted to like it. I mean, I liked the premise but found nothing original about the movie after that. It was predictable, bland, and mediocre. The characters couldn't have been more trite - even Zach Galifinakis who usually just kills me (Between two Ferns is genius). I tried not to let on, especially during the parts he thought were so great, but I seriously couldn't believe how much this movie had been hyped. It was extremely hard not to roll my eyes during most of the viewing. Not my cup of tea.
