What the hell was up with Nicole Kidman?

My God... MY GOD! She was awful in this movie! I usually like her a lot, but she was painful as the villain in Paddington. The poor dialogue they gave her could have been the reason, but I was surprised by how bad she was.

Her reward in IMDb, unintentional but appreciated, was to list her way down "in credits order" whatever that means (the database is utterly inconsistent in how it handles credits), so that from the main page of the film in IMDb you don't even see that she was in it. Since she's hired for star/marquee value in the first place, this practice of "burying the leads" in the IMDb credit lists is ridiculous.

It's obviously done in order of appearance which is quite common?

She is a very average actress

I loved her in Moulin Rouge, and liked her in some other stuff. But in this movie her performance was nothing short of horrendous, I actually felt pained whenever she spoke a line.

I think it was the script. Not much she could do with it. They just wanted her to be the villain without any redeemable characteristics. It wouldn't have surprised me if they threw water on her that she would melt.

I watched this movie last night and I thought the same..I think her character was quite stupid and with a ridicolous story, plus she overacted a bit acting like a villane, and that awful wig was the worst..
I hoped her character had developed better, offering a good story, good dialogues, instead of acting like a bitch4 and walk like an evil robot lol
Anyway the movie seemed to me a bit ridicolous, boring and childish..There are better movies like Mary Poppins, Peter and the dragon, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...
I did not enjoy this movie very much and I read there is a sequel for the next year..I see it totally unnecessary..

She was meant to be over the top and silly. A caricature of genuine villains. I think she did fine when we keep in mind it's a cute children's movie. It's not meant to be a masterclass in acting.

she was campy, but i quite liked it, as a different character to who she usually plays as.

Why does every movie need a f'ing villain giving chase? It's SO formulaic and stale! I feel like I've seen this exact same movie a thousand times before, only this time it's got a 'Paddington' skin on it.
