significance of floating shoe?
.
shareThe best explanation I can come up with is it's a play on the theme of perspective. From Jupe's perspective, it looks like the shoe is standing up on its own. A freak occurrence, which, according to Jupe, is a sign of a miracle, which he then obsessed over to the point that he now believes himself to be a chosen one of the aliens. During the attack, it probably distracted him from trying to run away, and potentially getting mauled. The tablecloth conveniently kept him from staring, which would be just plain rude.
shareA Lost-esque desperate maneuver to make the film seem more interesting, connected, and well thought out.
shareNo real clue, this movie kinda sucked but, from what I've read, I like to think that the monkey was like the flying blanket alien that you had to look at to get eaten by, so because the kid was so intrigued by the shoe maybe he didn't look at the monkey too much? Therefore lived? I have no idea, I just saw this movie yesterday, It started out so good and it ended up being some SCI FI crapfest monster.
