Jesus---another superhero garbage project?

The glut of comic book movies and TV shows wouldn't be so bad if there were more mature projects to balance things. I invite any of you to look at what's playing at your local multiplex. Name me one film in your multiplex's roster with an adult audience in mind (James Bond does not count). If some of you live in a metro area, you might be lucky enough to have an art cinema, but that isn't the case for most of us.

Does Dune count?

No

Stop crying.

Most of it is mindless schlock designed to sate the boredom of the masses. None of it is really there to invigorate thinking or *gasp* the possibility of independent thinking.

So we have a gluttony of cheese-ball media and low-brow two-hour cinematic "experiences" that offer nothing new or remotely satisfying. Most people these days have been brainwashed to accept low-tier entertainment as being "entertaining", even when it's not.

Worse yet, there's now a deluge of millennials/zoomers so enraptured by the mind-melting propaganda put out by the corporatocracy that they will actively defend it and attack anyone who questions its merit.

How true those words

reply

I mean you can look at the theater scrollbar on the home page and see that like half the movies there are aimed at adults.

reply

The days of dramas being released in the theater are over. All films now are either Action,Scifi, Fantasy/Horror and Maybe an occasional thriller.

Martin Scorsese knew this and that is why he released the Irishman on Netflix and made it 4 hours rather than his usual 3 or 3.5 hours.

Just the way it is. Get used to it. Soon everything will be streaming anyhow.

reply

In the 50s prophets such as yourself predicted the doom of movies because of the rise of TV. They were wrong then, and you will be wrong in your prophecy. Streaming won't be going away, but people will still crave the communal experience of seeing a movie in a cinema.

reply

Look at the drive thru...GONE...save for a handful across the country. Cinemas wont completely disappear but they most definitely will not be as prevalent any longer..

reply

The drive-in is just an outside movie theater. It was a gimmick. No need to differentiate it from normal theaters.

reply

James Bond DOES count, you imperious, self-impressed asshole.

What does not count is an imperious, self-impressed asshole who deletes himself.

LOL
