Anyone else (somewhat) disappointed?

-Lana Wachowski returns to the director’s chair but this time without her sister, Lilly.

-Morpheus is not played by Fishburne but by a higher pitched Yahya Abdul-Mateen. Doesn't feel the same with the deep voice Fishburne has. Like replacing Vader with a boy. Apparently he's a younger version of Morpheus.

-I am fine with the John Wick haircut in JOHN WICK movies but NOT in the Matrix. Why didn't they get him to cut his hair and shave? Did he get too lazy to do any role without that normal look of his? He looks like hobo Neo now. PUT SOME EFFORT KEANU! His acting seems more static nowadays compared to his younger self.

-Looks like the Matrix evolved and and became more progressive with the black Agents. Also probably a dopamine addled program for those who can't stomach the real desolate post apocalyptic world.

-CGI is a least to current standards and looks decent

This feels like those game sequels you play where in the next sequel, all the skills you learnt from the last game is reset and you have to grind to unlock them again with maybe a few new skills added. Expect to see woke elements this time around and some pronoun characters.

I’m not disappointed because my expectations were in the toilet and they have been met.

You’ve got a woker than woke Marxist transsexual director ‘resurrecting’ characters that died to make a quick, easy buck.

The only good thing about this film is that it will make Reloaded and Revolutions look excellent by comparison. Those films deserve a break because there’s a hell of a lot of good stuff in them.

reply

Yeah, I know there was talk of WB doing a new movie but handing the reins of the franchise over to a new director. I would be much more interested in this film if that's what they had done.

The entire second half of Reloaded is a freaking masterpiece. I don't care what anybody says. That freeway chase scene is one of the most iconic action sequences of all time.

reply

Yep, the freeway chase and the ‘burly brawl’ with 100’s of Smiths still blows my mind, I’m watching it with my jaw on the floor thinking ‘how tf did they film that??’

The new trailer I’m just ‘oh they used a greenscreen and a computer, yawn’ 🙄

reply

I did not know they were both trannys now. Yikes.

Holy shit, what rock have you been living under?

reply

A really good one.

I need to find a rock like that.

I disagree regarding Keanus look. He only shaved for the first movie when he was released, or born into the real world if you will.

I didn't catch the diversity twist with the agents but it figures. I posted about my disappointment of Agent Smith not returning in another thread and suggested just using an entirely new antagonist group instead. I also wasn't a fan of seeing the Morpheus fill-in especially with their choice of an actor. I hated him in Candyman and he sure as hell doesn't have the acting chops to portray Fishburne's character. Keanu seems to be coasting off of his newfound Wick fame. Even in the John Wick III he was sort of out of shape with a gut. There's absolutely no effort on his part as far as acting or appearance and Hollywood is okay with that considering he's back to being a ticket draw. With all that being said I'm still gonna give this a chance. I hated the sequels for being hard to follow story-wise. If this is even remotely more understandable than the last two then that's already a win in my book.

The John Wick franchise is still in progress, and I don't think Keanu Reeves is gonna change his look until it's finished. In a nutshell, John Wick movies have a higher priority. Matrix 4 is just an excuse to milk the cow, with the old cast being just a glorified cameo. He probably said that he didn't mind to appear, but he wasn't to get his hair cut, take it or leave it.

I've had little hope this entire time. Here's my list, some of which is same as yours.

-Only one Wachowski. Keep in mind, I pretty much enjoy every movie they've put out.

-Lazy to revive their own franchise that closed out...not even that well but fairly cleanly.

-Fishburne not invited back as far as we know.

-Keanu been phoning in his roles for years now, and the fact that he didn't even cut his hair for this is concerning.

Dear god, I hope not.

reply

no. quite the opposite

Why didn't they get him to cut his hair and shave?
Possibly because Keanu looks much younger *with* his long hair and beard these days. Evidence: watch Bill and Ted 3. Put very bluntly/cruelly, old Keanu shaved there looks old and haggard; old Keanu with long hair & beard looks like a youthful, John Wick, hipster-dude.
