Eric Christian Olsen was 30, pushing 31, years old at the time of filming. Feels to me like some of these guys would be a little more comfortable in "To Catch a Predator" than in the classroom. How old is too old to play High School students? Anybody got some other great examples of actors WAY TOO old for the roles they are playing.

shareThe worst case I've seen was a made for TV movie from '91 called "Earth Angel" which had Mark Hamill at 40, Erik Estrada at 42 and then Cindy Williams at 44, all playing their own parts as high school seniors in the scenes of the past.
shareI think there's a special provision for actors playing younger versions of their characters... I mean, Tom Hanks was 37 or so when he played his high school self in Forrest Gump. I find that less distracting than if they'd hired a correct-aged actor who SORT OF resembled Hanks.

I do like realism in films, and I prefer teens playing teens. though in this film the leads looked like they were in their early 20s, so they sorta fooled me.

The guy who played Benny (Cole Hauser) was 17-18 at the time, too, while Don (Sasha Jenson), who was the same age in the movie, is 11 years older than him in real life. share
He looked it too. But It was easy to gloss over because it's a 'fun' movie.
