Drew, the screeching just comes across as phony enthusiasm. You've always had a cute personality, and still do. But you're a mature woman now, and need to tone the unbecoming loudness down.
Haven’t watched her show, but got a book of hers (Wildflower) in audio form, and didn’t last long due to her screaming. I don’t understand why NO one tells her to knock it off...she’s most likely surrounded by sycophants.

shareThe thing with Drew Barrymore, is that she's always had a really big, effervescent type of personality, at least on talk shows. She's basically, a real life variation of the "manic pixie dream girl" architype. On her own show, I kind of see Drew as sort of your lovably quirky and kooky aunt.

shareBased on the comments on Previously TV, the problem with Drew Barrymore as a talk show host is that a part of her charm in her movies is her awkwardness. Something like that is best served in small does or among an ensemble. The "awkardness" that may have made Drew so charming in movies is much harder to translate for a full straight hour and without any context.

I want to give Drew the benefit of the doubt because we have to bare in mind that she doesn't have a live studio audience to feed off off due to the ongoing global pandemic. So naturally, Drew has to for the most part, play for the camera and presumably for the crew.
