Did anyone else think Camron Diaz wasn't right for the role of the mom?

I don't know about anyone else, but I can't stand Camron Diaz. In my opinion, she can't act to save her life. She pretty much ruins every film that she's in. She doesn't fit the role of a mother. She's more suited to stupid comedies where the main character is a self-centered blonde bimbo. =\

Ignorance is toxic.

Ok, so here's my tale;

When I heard she had been cast as the mother, I literally groaned. I was like "Seriously? DIS B*TCH?!"
I was super upset and I thought she would ruin everything. Hmph.

But then I actually saw her, I was quite impressed. She does a great job as a mother, once you forget about her other bimbo roles. Especially the scene where she's protesting to stop Kate going to the beach. I shed a tear because I can't even imagine how she's feeling.
I was really stunned with her performance in this movie and I'm really quite glad they did cast her in the end. I'm not sure anyone else could've done the character as much justice as she did. You can tell she poured her heart out in each and every scene.
I think one of the reasons I enjoyed this movie so much is because of Cameron Diaz.

BUT AY. THAT'S JUST ME YA KNOW.

Last 3 films;
Fight Club 8.5/10
My Sister's Keeper 8.3/10
The Hunger Games 7/10

I agree. She just wasn't as good as the other main actors.

I just recently saw this movie, it was great, although so sad. Typically I am not a fan of Cameron Diaz at all, I think her acting is horrible. She did manage to pull of this role (in my opinion), and I think its because her character was a self-absorbed, insensitive, and annoying person. I would imagine that is easy for most to pull off.

She didn't ruin the film but I would've preferred a better actress for the more emotional moments.

I was actually pleasantly suprised by her performance. This movie shows that Cameron CAN act, after all.

Her performance was simply dreadful........

Me too. Also I dont think director showed much faith in her. She was given enough screen time, but no particular scene, except may be in end on bed with Kate, to shine. Look at Joan Cusack on other hand. Absolute Class.

Yes she was terribly miscast in this film and I agree she ruins every film she is in. Terrible actress. I do not get the appeal to her at all.

I'm not her fan but I prefer her in more dramatic roles than in comedies which usually are dull.
I think that the main reason why people can't stand or simply can't imagine her in other roles than "stupid blonde" is because of "type cast" and the fact she is very attractive woman.
