Dark Shadows 2

I know it didn't do all that well at the box office and there probably won't be a sequel, but I would love to see another Dark Shadows movie! I'm a big fan of the original series and think it'd be cool to see them do a story with Quentin. Anyone else that liked the original series feel the same way?

reply

I think they should make a prequel, that what it would be a different style, not so much comedy and still link with the current film.

reply

I too would like to see a "prequel".

reply

@Wombstar Yes, because prequels have never been disappointments.
*crickets*
I'll show myself out.

reply

That would be a good idea. Ignore the previous film altogether and make it a straightforward werewolf film about the curse of Quentin Collins. I wonder who they would pick to play Count Petofi.

Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.

reply

I'm not a film maker but I'm having a good idea for a sequel, Barnabas and the family learns more about the Collins clan curse as Quentin come to help them face off against any of the evil characters from the series, Tim Burton should cast Crispin Glover As Quentin if he plans a sequel. I bet you fans have some ideas yourself.

reply

well this wasn't exactly meant to be a "blockbuster" lol. but I think it did well enough.

Realism, Remakes and Unnecessary Sequels are ruining movies!

reply

I'd adore a sequel! They could only bring more supernatural yet mysterious subplots into it involving Barnabas protecting the family. I'm sure they'd have the house rebuilt!

reply

"well this wasn't exactly meant to be a "blockbuster""

They spent $150 million on this. This was definitely meant to be a blockbuster

What the Fauk say? ;)

"Maybe they spent all of that money because it needed it? the budget of both Gravity and Django Unchained's was $100m, does that mean they were meant to be blockbusters?"

You don't know how Show Business works, do you? Yes, Gravity and Django were BOTH supposed to be hits. If a film is a lot of money to make they need the film to make double, sometimes tripple, to make their money back. You don't pour $150 million dollars into a film and say, "hey, ya know what? Keep the money! Just make it a GREAT film".

reply

Burton destroyed any chance of a franchise with this dung heap of a film.

reply

There doesn't need to be a second movie in any form. The bad ending on this film was enough to destroy its chances at another shot. Most of this film I really liked, but it's time to move on.

reply

Yeah, I think Burton pretty much Killed the Show that Would not Die!

reply

Id rather see a prequel. The events that took place when he first became cursed, and ending with his burial. That way they can drop the silly humor, give it a more Gothic, serious tone but still be park of the series.

Getting the same cast to play different roles would be fun, like they did in the tv show.

reply

honestly, I would LOVE to see a sequel. they could do so much more considering all the wild and awesome storylines the show had. imagine them casting an adam or Quentin, that would be great! go more into the werewold thing. of course Angelique would come back, because she ALWAYS came back in the show.

if ever there was a sequel, this should have one.

Realism, Remakes and Unnecessary Sequels are ruining movies!

reply

I would fear a sequel in the same style would been pushing too much towards Addams family... I dunno.

reply

The Addams Family (1991) and the sequel was great, they would have made The Addams Family 3 if Raul Julia did not die, who played Gomez Addams.

And Addams Family Reunion was a abomination, one of the worst movies ever made.

He was a great actor.

reply

Wasn't so keen on Family Values.
Not really watched Reunion.. I saw the first few minuets involving the mail man? lol is it really that bad?

reply

Yes, it's unwatchable.

I sure hope there's a sequel since it ended set up for one pretty much.

reply

I'd like to see this movie done straight without all the goofy humor. A little humor is fine, but there was too much of it. Johnny Depp should have been fabulous as Barnabas. Not that he was bad, but he was not given much to work with. I think this movie was ruined by Tim Burton. I had a very bad feeling when I heard he was involved. Find a new director, top notch writers, and do a better job with Johnny Depp's makeup. Make it suspenseful. They could have done so much more with this movie. Forget this movie and start over completely.

P.S. I did enjoy the movie, but not like I wanted to enjoy it. It wasn't what I expected at all.

reply

This doesn't NEED a sequel, though I would like to see it if Tim Burton directs it. There are unanswered questions left.

The mansion is burned down and the town knows that Barnabas Collins is a vampire.
Dr. Hoffman survived drowning as she is now a vampire.
What will become of David? What about his loser father?
Carolyn is a werewolf and the whole Collins family looks and acts like freaks resembling The Munsters who were a mix of monsters.
Plus the whole family is accused of murder and destruction after their factory was destroyed. Where will they go?

And ultimately, what happens to Barnabas and Victoria? Do they all stay together as a family, or do they go their separate ways as fugitives?

Not a chance. And that's fine by me; I like the movie we've already got.

Agree.

'Dark Shadows' contains enough interesting written & visual material to satisfy a lifetime.
No need for a sequel.
