Was Money Penny shaving Bond foreplay?... Do you think they had sex after she shaved his face?... It was a pretty sexy flirty scene. After when he is in the Chinese casino she says he looks good and Bond responds with "its amazing what you can do with an extra set of hands."... Then later in the scene Money Penny says "She is pretty if you like that sort of thing." displaying some jealousy. THen when Bond is in a car chase he calls Money Penny on the phone for some info and Bond gets jealous of Money Penny having a guy at her apartment.
Do you think they had sex in his hotel room or was it just flirting?...
I tended to think that Bond and Eve didn't have sex right after the shaving scene, because that's more in accordance with the traditional (Lois Maxwell) portrayal of Moneypenny (and moreover, the movie didn't show any direct hints that they had indeed had sex).
However, the scene was indeed a very sexy flirty scene. And afterwards, no such sexy scene between Eve and Bond took place ever again. So it seems indeed that after the shaving scene, the dynamic between them had changed. And the fact that during the phone call in Spectre, Bond seemed jealous with Eve for having a guy over at her apartment, was rather odd. It looks like they did have sex right after the shaving scene, and the roles were rather reversed: she was the predator who initiated it, he the poor puppy; and afterwards she wasn't really that much interested (sexually) in him anymore.
They could have had sex then agreed to not do it again and so from that point on Money Penny becomes a tease to him and that would fall into line of their relationship as it was in the other movies.
I was just watching it again tonight and It was pretty steamy. Bond also started to unbutton her blouse just before she finished shaving him and she stopped him in order to shave his neck. SHe said she was sent to help in any way she can. So maybe M sent her to help get Bond's confidence back by sleeping with him so he could have a conquest. Bond definitely wanted to sleep with her thats for sure but did they?.... I would have liked to see it. So many things point to sex and others don't.
Actually, M was going to send Q but when money-penny arrived, she told Bond that Q "was afraid of flying"~ henceforth, Q was supposed to be the colleague and NOT money-penny!
Bit late in the day to add to this, but I’m watching it right now.
Connery and Maxwell said they played their scenes as if their characters had shared a brief dalliance many years before, which gave them a little flirty ease with each other.
Since this is a reboot (despite the film’s insistence on referencing an actual past) this scene, I believe, is that moment.
No. Their relationship is eternally unconsummated.
If they ever got it on, the stars would fall out of the sky, the laws of physics would cease to exist, flying pigs would chased the toothed hens out of their mare's nests, and God would realize the universe was a bad job and shut it all down.
I see Eve as the main Bond Girl of Skyfall and yes I do believe they had sex. It made no sense for them to start getting all flirty and close and then just not doing anything as that would completely contradict everything we know about Bond.
To date the only main Bond Girl that Bond didn't actually nail is Camille.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
James Bond : Moneypenny, what would I do without you?
Moneypenny : My problem is that you never do anything with me.
Goldeneye
Bond: Moneypenny, I’m devastated. What would I ever do without you?
Moneypenny: As far as I can remember, James, you’ve never had me.
Bond: Hope springs eternal.
Moneypenny: This sort of behaviour could qualify as sexual harassment.
Bond: Really? What’s the penalty for that?
Moneypenny: Someday you have to make good on your innuendos.
The thing is this is a different timeline so dialogue from OHMSS and Goldeneye are irrelevant, the scene was pretty sensual and the very next time we see are fireworks (ie. Bond's orgasm) so it's a fair assumption that they did have sex. I doubt they do again considering now Eve has taken on the traditional Moneypenny role and their relationship will now settle into how it was during the original 20.
Casino Royale was the first Bond story. Since all of Craig’s films follow that as a starting point, continuity would indicate that the because the events of Skyfall took place prior to the events of OHMSS (which Spectre is a close copy of) and Goldeneye, to which there were statements made that indicated that they had never consummated their relationship, logic dictates that they never had sex in Skyfall.
But we’re discussing the continuity of the Bond character, not the actor portraying him. It’s not a question of, did Sean Connery’s Bond sleep with Lois Maxwell’s Moneypenny, or Moore’s or Craig’s Bond with their respective Moneypenny actress. It’s a question of did the character Bond sleep with the character Moneypenny, to which the evidence presented in the overall continuity of the characters indicates no.
In the end though, you will believe what you want while I believe what I want. We may disagree but at least we didn’t resort to name calling and insults like what happens frequently on these boards.
No, the Craig films take place in their own continuity THEY ARE NOT PREQUELS. In Die Another Day everything from Dr. No to The World Is Not Enough did happen within that universe.
In Skyfall the only films that took place within that universe were Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. This is not my opinion, Casino Royale was a reboot of the series and disregarded the continuities of the previous films. IT WASN'T A PREQUEL.
Do you understand the difference between a reboot and a prequel? It's just like how Batman Begins had NOTHING to do with Batman '89, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.
Think of it this way: The first 20 films from Dr. No - Die Another Day are one Bond Series (much like the Burton and Schumacher films), then the Craig films are a different Bond Series (much like the Nolan films). Batman Forever had NOTHING to do with Batman Begins much like how OHMSS and Goldeneye have NOTHING to do with Skyfall.
Look man, I'm not saying they did sleep together despite the fact the way the scene is edited I think they did (I admit this is speculation though), but the reasons you gave are not sufficient to say they didn't sleep together because those films don't exist in the same universe as the Craig films do (much like how Batman: The Movie '66 doesn't exist in the same universe as the Tim Burton/Schumacher/Nolan Batman films).
I have figured out the problem here and admittedly it stems from the fact that this is a webpage on a website primarily for discussing movies and my response essentially went outside of that boundary. The issue is that you keep referencing the “Craig film(s)” which did indeed serve as a reboot to the film series. The sequels have followed Casino Royale ’s continuity so obviously the events of those films take place afterwards. Also, I am very much aware of the difference between a reboot and a prequel. I was a kid in the 70’s and 80’s and recently more than one of my favorite childhood films have been rebooted or remade.
As I had stated above, I am referring to the Bond universe continuity. In that continuity, Casino Royale was the first Bond STORY timeline wise (again, not referring to the film) and those events were followed by the events of Live and Let Die. Because the story of Live and Let Die has already been told, it stands to reason that the stories told now that proceed Casino Royale must precede Live and Let Die.
Ok I see what your saying but the books were also in a different continuity (in the books bond kills a man by drowning him in guano and fights a giant squid, that isn’t canon in the films) I am talking about the universe of the Craig films. I do agree that in films 1-20 and the novels they didn’t have sex, but in the universe of the Craig films the way the scene is edited it seems to be implying that they do although I admit it’s not conclusive however I don’t think it’s safe to assert that they didn’t have sex.
