The Fantastic Four are too goofy to work on film

Will be the third flop in a row for FF

I feel like this movie is a big gamble, but we'll see.. I feel like MARVEL peaked with END GAME

reply

It certainly did

I think this can translate to live-action with the right people. I wish Brad Bird was directing this though.

Thor and Aquaman are NOT too goofy... I mean, most superheroes are pretty goofy.
And, if Guardians of the Galaxy can work, then Squirrell Girl and Plastic Man are probably going to do OK, and the FF are as likely to work as any supers out there.

Some comic book characters are a bit sillier in concept than others. But if they just embrace it then it works fine.

This hopefully will not be a bore like 2015s iteration. I'm down for a couple of hours of fun.

Fourth* ... the original one with Jessica Alba had a sequel that flopped critically

Maybe the goofiness in the comics can't translate to the big screen, so they should offer a different interpretation of these superheros in film . They don't have to follow the comics by the letter

The 2015 film did just that by being darker and more inspired by the Ultimates, but the fans still criticized it for not being faithful.

The "goofiness" that you mentioned is what the fans know about the characters. Any deviation from that and they'll say it's no longer the Fantastic Four.
