historically, films that look like they may be marketed more toward women don't do as well with the male segment. yes, there are occasional winners but not the majority.
i was curious if this one succeeded at marketing to males here. apparently it works as there is interest shown here.
to me it looks like "Yaya sisterhood of the traveling women being superheros having never earned it pants". Blah. someone wakes up, suddenly super powers, never learned, no trials, not earned. meh.
gender affects profits and return on investments. if males tween 15 and 35 throw the most money as cinema, you don't make BROS and expect it to be a hit. know the audience, AND taper expectations.
