Can Thor take on Maverick?

I predict it won’t either.

I can only see two films potentially making more than Top Gun this year; Minions and Avatar.

Of course this will beat Top Gun. The MCU is the hottest movie franchise of all time

Giving back to back critically panned(eternals, multiverse of madness,love and thunder) and mediocre(black widow,by mcu standard) can affect the box office success of mcu movies, especially after disappointment of fans for the highly anticipated movie multiverse of madness.A great plus point of this film is casting christian Christian bales acting has been critically acclaimed in this movie.christian bale has a huge fan base.I think many bale fans will go to theater only to see his performance.Marvel technically did a very good job to not make gore comic accurate.Maybe they did it to attract Christian bale fans.

Does this Thor movie have access to the Chinese market?

Early reviews do not seem enthusiastic, so I would guess that receipts are lower. In terms of studio profitability -- for some reason people care about the bottom line of these gigantic corporations -- TGM has done most of its business domestically, and the studios tend to bigger a cut of those sales than overseas box office.

It looks like it will have a better opening weekend, but long-term, it's unlikely. Top Gun is for the dumb masses, Thor is for the more intelligent and discerning movie-goer, and we all know there are a lot more dumbasses than intellectuals out there.
