Transformers 2 was 'crap,' says director Michael Bay

"The real fault with (Transformers 2) is that it ran into a mystical world," he explains. "When I look back at it, that was crap. The writers' strike was coming hard and fast. It was just terrible to do a movie where you've got to have a story in three weeks."

He adds, "I was prepping a movie for months where I only had 14 pages of some idea of what the movie was. It's a BS way to make a movie, do you know what I'm saying?"

This isn't the first time Bay has blamed the writers' strike for the blockbuster's faults. In July 2010, he told USA Today, "I'll take some of the criticism. It was very hard to put (the sequel) together that quickly after the writers' strike."

Actor Shia LaBeouf had similar complaints earlier that year at the Cannes Film Festival. "When I saw the second movie, I wasn't impressed with what we did," he said. "There were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone."

It's a peice of crap and yet he still makes another one? Michael Bay should stick to ruining actor's career instead of besmirching a franchise like Transformer. The kids who grew up with Transformer are now 30 somethings so why not make it a dark drama like Chris Nolan did for Batman? This cutesy crap is getting on my 'effing nerves.

your idea is just as terrible

im sick of this infantile obsession with making EVERYTHING 'dark' and 'gritty'... i dont want my characters to be brooding freakin emos or grumbly dull stuckup lifeless characters...

movies dont need to be serious to be enjoyable. they just need a proper script and concept, and that is NOT tied in with the level of 'seriousness' in the movie.

in fact, transformers always has been - and its one of the things ive always loved about it - a little bit cheesy.

im NOT saying bays transformers films are even remotely good - theyre utter trash - but i AM saying we need LESS of your 'dark' crap.... and i think its sad that you and your fellow '30 somethings' cant enjoy a movie unless its a dark and dry piece of film.

Belief in a supernatural source of evil is unnecessary -We alone are capable of every wickedness

Wonder what the Blind fanboyz will say to spin this to defend this piece of garbage.

Well, if we're talking about the aforementioned OPINION that the novelized adaptation was better than the movie, I'd say the FACT that the book was written by a professional author who already had 90% of his work done for him by Orci & Kurtzmann, Kruger, Bay, a bunch of uncredited scabs, and the voice actors is probably worth mentioning.

:P

aw, looking back on it Michael Gay thinks his movie is crap. Yeah right. He knew it was crap that day you laid eyes on the script. He just didn't give a *beep* like most director's because he was getting a big pay check. And who cares no in retrospect? The movie made 600 million. Jokes on everyone.

The man wants to be a fully fledged movie director, yet he cannot direct to save his life. Why not stop? Oh, right, the money.
