I can't figure out why would he make a hercules movie that would appeal more to women than men. Why would he be more focus on males flashing skin than females?
That is odd for a male director!
And the cheesy twilight love story, seems to be all about appealing to women or effeminate men.

Wow, what a stupid comment. This film has the perfect balance of action and romance to appeal to both sexes. As far as "males flashing skin" goes; it's fvcking Hercules! do you expect him to be wearing a turtleneck sweater and long pants? Would that make you feel better about your own flawed body? And while it would have been nice to see the female lead nude, that would have earned the movie an R rating. Obviously they are aiming towards a wider audience than that. That explains the lack of blood in the battle/fight scenes. To say the director, or fans of the subject matter are somehow "gay" is a pathetic homophobic statement. If your 'masculinity' is threatened by a film like this then you might want to talk to a professional about your insecurities.

Wolf of Wall Street is Rated R and it's doing very well, this whole logic of wanting this movie to be friendly to kids is ridiculous!
Anyway, no I enjoy Kellan's body tremendously, but I think there is something very wrong with a man who the opportunity to do a Greek Mythology type movie, so much potential for lots of hot chicks, which would be eye candy for males, and he didn't do it.
I'm female by the way, I don't have masculinity issues.
And point is, almost every male had hated this movie, it seems like the rare few who actually enjoyed it were females. That's why I wonder if his gay. This should've been a pure appealing to Testosterone sort of movie, but it did not achieve that.

I'm just disagreeing with your logic, because it sounds like you are suggesting that every guy who is a fan of the countless Hercules films that have been made throughout the years...is somehow gay. I think thousands of guys are just gonna be insulted by that suggestion. I'm a guy (straight too) who really enjoyed this movie. It had a great balance of action and drama, which i think was done to please a larger audience. As far as eye candy for men goes, i think the amazingly beautiful actress who played the lead, will please most male viewers. No, she doesn't get naked, but we are not all animals that NEED to see that. Of course "Wolf of Wall Street" was made to be an 'R' film; that is because of it's subject matter; it just wouldn't appeal to kids looking for a movie to see. Think about it; how many kids are dying to see "Wolf of Wall Street?" Not many. But how many of them want to see a movie like "Hercules?" Alot of them, because it is a fantasy movie that appeals to them. What would be the point of excluding a large part of this movie's fanbase, just for the sake of showing some nudity? As far as Harlin goes; directors don't make films based on their own personal fantasies; they make movies that will find an audience and sell tickets. Maybe the guy makes porn under a different name, in his spare time. Anyway who CARES if this second rate director from the 90's is gay, straight, or into farm animals.

shareI think he was trying to grab a little something from various popular things, a silly romance becuz that is standard, and lots of men in skimpy clothes leaping about in slow motion becuz it was popular in 300 and Clash of the Titans.
