The Absolute Best Thing About This Movie...

IMO, was Columbus Short's portrayal of Little Walter! He did such a great job that I think his scenes are the only ones worth watching in the entire film!
To me, the film is kind of pointless and without structure!
I also believe that they over-hyped Beyonce's portrayal of Etta James. She did an okay job, not good or great, just okay!

I definitely agree! I was blown away by his performance, I have always liked him, but this movie made me think 'Wow, he's going places!'
As for the movie and Beyonce, I agree with that too. It felt as if they cast Beyonce just to get more of audience, because she just did not convince me as Etta James at all. And, the movie was so scattered. It had structure, like you said, it was just someone telling a story. (Which is what Cedric was doing, but for a movie, it definitely needed more structure. I got very bored, except for Columbus Short.)

I defintely concur. I love Columbus Short anyway. And I already knew he was talented but man he showed out. His performance had me second guessing myself and I've seen most of his work. I'm like, is that really him? He was great and I wish they would have focused more on Muddy and Little Walter though.

Jeffrey Wright was exceptional, but he always is. Never fails. Eamonn was great too. It's just that C's never really had a chance to shine like this.

He did a great job of the character but I wish they'd worked on his mimicking of the harp playing. I felt like guitarists or drummers do watching actors pretending to play their instruments.

DeNiro learned enough sax to look like he was playing in NY, NY; it wouldn't have taken much to make this actor's "playing" look more realistic.
