First Half vs. Second Half

I love this movie I think this alongside Planet Terror were just amazing. My biggest problem with this movie is that the first group of girls are so unlikable. They are all stuck up and,"too good." They were weak and I'm assuming that's why they were killed like nothing. The second group are just the type of badass girls that don't come along often. They don't just get over it and the fact that their still alive, they fight back which is misunderstood by most audiences.

I liked the first half better. The action in the second half is good , but that's not the reason I watch Tarantino films. It's all about dialogue for me. And the girls in the first half were irritating , but still juicy hot.

One of Kurt Russell's better performances.

1st half OR 2nd half

Like others said, Stuntman Mike was unelievable dumb in the 2nd half. It would be ok if he was surprised that the other girls were tough, but the 1st half described Mike as danger-loving and unemotional. He was nothing like that in the 2nd half.

The characters and dramatic composition is inconsistent. As a filmmaker, QT failed on this one.

QT had his prime with Jackie Brown, after that it went downwards.

Both good, in their different ways, and, apart from the excessive swearing in the second part, I loved how Tarantino nailed the ways in which women really do talk to each other.

But both had major fails as well.

In the first: No way those women would have let the one girl go off with Stuntman Mike. They would have taken her home. No matter how much she and Julia didn't like each other, they would do that.

In the second: No way they'd abandon their friend with the car's creepy owner. Just would not happen. Maybe, maybe if they really hated her, however, they seemed to like her just fine.

I still love the film, and in so many ways, he does get women, and how we are with each other, but those two events (in addition to the excessive swearing in the second half) are pretty big fails.

But hey, I'm watching it right now, and enjoying the hell out of it all over again, so I definitely forgive these mistakes!

"You said you'd met more interesting artichokes." "Well, he was alive then."

Definitely preferred the first half to the 2nd half.

The first half was going against trope, against the final girl trope, against the 'killer eventually gets killed' trope of horror films. It was just a scenario where the 'bad guy won' and the killer pulled it off perfectly.

The 2nd half was one big-ass horror cliche.

Second half...definitely. Zoe Bell on that Challenger is enough argument to win hands down

^This.

Plus, I agree with all the points made by OP

I enjoy both halves equally; together they make a great whole film...
I too liked the contrast between both halves; the babes with the "bad-ass bitches" as it were.

First part was a little better.

ALTOBELLO YOU *beep*!!

Second half. The characters were more likable, the car chases were awesome (as well as Bell's stuntwork), and it wasn't so damn boring like the first half was. Also, I love the closing credits song.

Agree....absolutely the second half. Love the fact that stuntman Mike picked on the wrong set of women to mess with!!! Satisfying ending to the movie for me.

First half, by far. The creepiness, the setting, the dialogue, the pretty stuck-up girls, all made this more interesting than the one-trick pony (car chase) 2nd half.
