The reason why Mike is inconsistent is because the first half of the film is *his* half. You could say it's through his viewpoint. Everything in the first half is significantly more vintage and if it weren't for the girls car and the cell phones there would be no indication of it happening in modern day. Even the look of the first half, the old film stock worn to hell and back with significant hiccups, speaks to this. It's stuntman mike playing himself in the same old film. It played out like an old slasher flick.
The second half also starts from his perspective, but notice that the black and white goes away when he does. So does the old, worn film stock and all its grain and glitches. It's not from his "perspective" any more. It's a modern movie and old stuck-in-the-past stuntman mike has made the mistake of pulling his *beep* on modern women and he gets *beep* up for it. Second Half Stuntman Mike isn't like what you learned in the first half because that was biased. When the girls can fight back he shows his true colors.
