Interesting article here on trolling:

https://news.byu.edu/intellect/whats-in-a-troll-byu-research-examines-motives-of-internet-trolling#:~:text=Through%20an%20online%20survey%20completed,more%20likely%20to%20demonstrate%20trolling

"Through an online survey completed by over 400 Reddit users, the study found that individuals with dark triad personality traits (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy) combined with schadenfreude – a German word meaning that one derives pleasure from another’s misfortune – were more likely to demonstrate trolling behaviors."

You might want to talk to someone.

Weil, DUH! They had to run a study before they realized that trolls are assholes with no friends?

Trolling, as frequently used: "Anybody who doesn't like a movie I like, or who questions anything I agree with, is a troll."

There needs to be a definition of trolling that most rational people accept. To many, it seems to mean any statement that they don't agree with. That's not only too general and vague, it's stupid. As an example, some will call me a troll just for saying that. I don't care, but it's just got to the point where "troll" and "trolling" don't really mean anything.

Yes, I honestly don't see how the OP is considered a troll. He stated that this show is woke and it is bad as a result. From all reports on this project, this seems to be an accurate assessment.

You cannot take original source material that people have enjoyed for decades and distort the plot and characters to suit a trendy modern Leftist agenda and expect the end product to be anything but a dismal failure. We have seen this happen an infinite number of times in the last decade or so. Several of these were Stephen King projects.

If anyone is a troll, it would be the people claiming these "revised" shows are good, in the face of all evidence to the contrary.

reply

Of course he's a troll, look at his posting history. Hasn't even seen any of the movies!

thank you for offering up a survey consisting of losers on the biggest loser website of the internet

What are the woke aspects?

reply

Not every character is white.

reply

Are they white in the source material?

reply

I don't think it's actually said, but we can just assume they are white in the book, especially around the time the book was written/released. But I've seen the movie. Nothing to make a big deal about (and I've read the book and REALLY enjoyed it, one of my favorite Stephen King books). The main kid is race swapped and then I think the doctor character was both race swapped and gender swapped to a black female (I think the character was a white male in the book). But the movie never really focuses in on that stuff. If there is, it's near the beginning of the movie when the boy is being bullied at school. I'd have to re-watch that scene again, but from what I can recall, he was just being bullied because he is a new kid and his family just moved to the town. There is nothing like that related to the doctor character. But I'd probably put this race swap and even gender swap in the same category as making Kingpin black in the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie, or making Gordon black in the 2022 Batman movie. They really don't make the skin color or gender the main focus of the characters. They are treated like every other character, especially those that are white. Also, I'm pretty anti-woke too and didn't have a problem with the race swap and gender swap. This was pretty much race and gender swap done correctly. I think that if someone has problems with race swapping one character and race and gender swapping another character (at least for this movie), they have serious issues.

reply

Race swapping and gender swapping is done just for the sake of it ... the first thought that enters the makers of these movies nowadays is .. we are gender swapping and race swapping characters.
Why ?
No reason other than to tick the all important boxes Zzzzzz

reply

Exactly. As soon as the studio starts forcing diversity at the expense of the source material they can fuck themselves up the ass with their shitty politically correct film.

Are they white in the source material?

I don't know. When reading the Novel, most people probably aren't thinking of the characters Race like in this movie I suppose??

reply

You don't imagine how characters look as you read a book?

reply

Yeah that’s weird.

reply

I'm not imagining them in any particular Race, then No and if you're doing that, then you have issues

reply

So if you’re reading a historical epic then you’d imagine, for example, Henry VIII as a black dude?

reply

The setting is a small town in rural Maine in the late 1970s.

A angry little bigot.........

reply

Republicans when more than one POC is in the cast…

reply

No these are the far right people, the ones who go around calling nearly every republican a RINO.

oh and white is a color. Unironically using "POC" legitimately just exalts into conceptual exceptionalism.. It probably subconsciously furthers White exceptionalism in their minds..... so congratulations on that, to the far left 🤡

reply

As I understand the term 'POC', it means non-white.

reply

almost.. err well.. depends what is "white"... but it's inherently a minsnomer nonetheless.

the ridiculous people who use it can also use it for any person not part of specific ethnic majority of USA (roughly meaning visibly stereotypically caucasian AND mainly german/british ancestry), such as spanish people (they've called antonio banderas POC) or argentines (they've called anya taylor-joy POC). by 'they' i mean actual entertainment industry news outlets not even just internet randos. that happened around awards coverage a while back. it triggered controversy, apologies disicusion etc yadda yadda

reply

The only time I have seen or heard the term, it was used by Blacks, Asians and Hispanics to distinguish them from Whites. Personally I don't use the term; all I was doing was saying how I understood its' meaning.

reply

Your face is woke.
